In spite of their dangerous spikes, hedgehogs are very popular animals, eager to go looking for food, especially in the autumn season, and sometimes even stopping by on their own balcony. To honor the cute creatures or just create great autumn decorations, you can make hedgehogs. We present you with different variants that undoubtedly all have a lot of charm.

Glue hedgehog template

You can stick and decorate our hedgehog templates with different materials as you wish. For example:

You need this:

• dried leaves
• skin-colored construction paper
• Wackelaugen
• pencil
• black colored pencil
• scissors
• Glue

Tip: To dry the leaves, put them into thick books after collecting them for about a week. Each sheet should be "free". So do not put the foliage stacked in the books.

Step 1: Sketch the outlines of a hedgehog's head on the construction paper. Depending on whether the hedgehog is to be seen from the side or from the front, you must adapt this form. Sideways - you draw an ellipse with a pointed nose. Frontal - you draw a heart.

Step 2: Cut out the face with scissors.

Step 3: Glue the dried leaves together in a fan shape. Our pictures show you how the whole thing should look like. Leave three to four leaves left.

Step 4: Glue the hedgehog face on the front of the fan leaf leaves.

Step 5: Glue the remaining three to four leaves to the left edge of the hedgehog face for a nice transition.

Step 6: Glue the Wackelauge on the face.

Step 7: Draw the nose and the smiling mouth of the hedgehog with black colored pencil. Finished!

Tip: The nose is also a small pompom that you attach with glue.

Make hedgehog mask

You need:

• at least 3 sheets DIN A4
• 1 scissors, craft knife or cutter
• 1 pencil, fine liner or ballpoint pen
• At least 2 sample clamps
• Paint, crayons, wax painters or felt pens
• Glue, craft glue
• Twine or elastic band
• Cardboard (corrugated cardboard, packaging, cardboard packaging, ...)

Variant 1 - use template as template

Tip: If you want to build several masks or you want to use the template for a longer period of time and more often, glue the printed template directly onto a cardboard (backboard of a writing pad or the packaging of the breakfast cereal). This also gives you more stability in the stencil and it is longer lasting.

Variant 2 - color the template the same

Either print our Hedgehog Mask template and then paint or you can paint the template right from the computer and then print.

Tip: Many image editing programs (including those that may be downloaded for free from the internet) can open a pdf file. Here you can color our template according to your wishes and ideas and you can then print the mask colorfully.

The more spines your hedgehog should have, the more often you have to use the template with the spines.

You should note that our template is a universal template.
Before you finally glue or staple the items together, stop and see if it fits. The template is extra generously sized and can be cut well almost everywhere. This allows you to adjust the hedgehog mask to the respective face shape and size. For little hedgehog kids, print out the template slightly smaller.

Step 1: Fold all parts of the dashed line by about 90 degrees. Keep the eye part in front of your eyes and see if the muzzle fits. Here it can happen that the snout on the upper part has to be shortened a little further or cut in order to fit better then.

Step 2: When you are satisfied with the shape, glue the hedgehog snout part onto the unwound corners of the eye part from the top. Stick the nose to the front of the bent part of the muzzle.

Step 3: After the glue has dried, you can glue the sting to the hedgehog mask. The first layer of spines stick the hedgehog equal to the eye part.
The individual layers are then placed in a scale like one behind the other.

Tip: Mirror or rotate the hedgehog sting layer alternately to make the sting dress look denser.

Several spine levels can be attached either with pattern clips or rivets, here you can also attach the fastening cord immediately.

Finger puppet made of felt

You need this:

• Felt (brown, white, pink)
• scissors
• Needle and thread (white, black)
• possibly hot glue
• black felt-tip pen

Step 1: First the individual elements for the hedgehog are cut out of felt. The body consists of a brown ellipse, which projects beyond the finger by about 2 cm on each side and is cut straight on one side. Cut a second ellipse with this shape as a template. Afterwards, prongs are cut in all around - the two ellipses lie one above the other.

Step 2: The face looks like a heart. Cut out this as well as white felt arms and legs. The arms and legs can be designed as you like - either as circles or also small ellipses.

3rd step: Now only the stomach is missing. This has the shape of an ellipse. He is a lot smaller than the body and pink.

Step 4: Once everything is cut out clean, the items are sewn together. Begin by sewing legs, stomach, arms and head to the front of the body. Sew the individual parts exactly in this order by hand. You do not need many stitches. Use as appropriate sewing thread. But contrasts are also very good here.

Tip: The small parts, such as legs and arms can also be attached with some glue.

5th step: Finally, the two halves of the hedgehog's body are sewn together. Place the halves exactly over each other and sew them together.

Tip: You can also sew the halves together on the left and then turn the finger puppet over.

Step 6: Now only eyes and nose are missing. Just paint them with a black marker.

Done is the hedgehog finger puppet!

Nail hedgehog

You need:

• pencil
• wooden board
• nails
• hammer
• Wool, string
• Paint or pencils

Step 1: Draw a hedgehog on a wooden board with a pencil.

Step 2: Draw the hedgehog's face. It is advisable to paint the hedgehog's face already in order not to pollute the cord later. We did this with a burnt flask for a rustic look. Mark the outside points of the spikes and all the points where you want to hammer in nails. Remove all remaining pencil strokes so that they do not bother you at the end.

Step 3: Now you can hit the nails. Always take note of the wood thickness and length of the nails so as not to damage the substrate. Secure the piece of wood with a screw clamp against slipping.

Note: The nails should definitely be on the outer edge of the hedgehog so that you can still recognize its shape. They can put nails inside the sting dress, but they do not have to.

Step 4: Now take the wool of your choice, tie the beginning to a nail and "spin" the thread over the hedgehog. There is no limit to the imagination. No matter whether you pull the thread systematically or absolutely chaotically from nail to nail.

Fimo Hedgehog

You need this:

• round pine cones
• Polymer clay (black, light brown or skin-colored)

Step 1: At the beginning, individual balls of polymer clay are formed. You need:

• six medium-sized, light brown balls
• a big, light brown ball
• two little black balls
• a medium sized, black ball

Tip: First, make the lighter polymer clay balls and then the black ones. As a result, light shades are not contaminated by the black on the hands.

Step 2: Now push the big ball on the pin and on the closed side. Then spread the edges firmly with your finger. Then form the tip of the nose by pinching the ball with your fingers.

Step 3: Now the feet are attached to the bottom. With a toothpick or a sharp object small claws are scratched in front.

Step 4: Then attach the nose to the front of the nose.

Step 5: The ears balls are pressed a bit flat and pressed in with a spherical modeling stick. Then attach the ears to the head.

Done is the hedgehog! Vary the shapes of the nose, ears and legs - this way, you will always be unique.

Hedgehog Bookmark

You need this:

• a sheet of origami paper (eg 15 cm x 15 cm)
• a piece of cardboard (brown)
• glue
• scissors
• pencil
• black felt-tip pen

Step 1: To start, place the sheet of origami paper on the table with the outer side facing down.

Step 2: Fold the sheet diagonally once.

Step 3: Then fold down the tip pointing upwards. The fold runs horizontally.

4th step: Then fold the left and right tips to the middle. The outer edges run along the outer edges of the white triangle.

5th step: Open the folds from step 4. Then fold the tips upwards. Their edges meet at the vertical center line.

Step 6: Now hide the tips in the pocket that has formed.

Step 7: Now pick up a piece of brown tone cards. This should be slightly stronger than the origami paper. Cut a sufficiently wide piece. This should fit in the bag.

Step 8: Now draw hedgehog spines with the pencil. Then cut out the hedgehog hairstyle with scissors.

Step 9: Now the hairstyle is glued into the bag from the inside.

Step 10: Finally, paint the nose and eyes of the hedgehog. Done is the hedgehog bookmark!

Tip: If you want, you can attach the Hedgehog also Wackelaugen.

Chestnut hedgehog

Make a particularly spiky hedgehog by putting toothpicks in a chestnut. As always, we will show you step by step how to proceed.

You need it (per hedgehog):

• chestnut
• toothpick
• match
• Wackelaugen
• Hand drill OR sharp tool
• scissors
• Glue

Step 1: Grab the chestnut as large as possible, oval-shaped and flat on one side, so that the finished hedgehog has a good position.

Step 2: Pick up a hand drill or a suitable pointed tool and drill some holes in the chestnut.

Tip: Leave a little space for the hedgehog face on one side. This area is not provided with holes. The other side you perforate for it all the more.

Step 3: Break a handful of toothpicks roughly in the middle. Alternatively, you can of course also use scissors for this purpose.

Step 4: Insert the toothpick pieces into the drilled holes. Make sure the pointed toothpick side is facing up.

Step 5: Drill a hole again - in the front of the face, where you want to place the hedgehog's nose.

Step 6: Break off the colored tip from a match and insert it into the hole just drilled.

Step 7: Glue the wobbly eyes. Finished!

Making Pompon Hedgehogs - Variant 1

Make a cute hedgehog from our crafting template and a pompom. A beautiful autumn decoration or a cute souvenir for your loved ones at home.

You need the following materials:

• Wool in different colors of your choice
• Pompom template from two cardboard rings or pompom maker stencil
• colorful construction paper or clay cardboard
• a few wobbly eyes and little pompom - felt balls
• a piece of thread as a later suspension loop
• pencil
• scissors
• Nail scissors for the small curves
• PVA glue

Step 1: Take a piece of colorful construction paper or cardboard and hand it over to our craft template in the shape of the hedgehog's body. Cut out our craft template for it before.

Step 2: Then cut the hedgehog body shape out of the construction paper or cardboard, not forgetting the inner circle of holes, where the pompom is later used.

Step 3: Now transfer the circles of the pompom template to cardboard and then cut them out. Again, cut out the inner circle here.

Tip: For the inner circle you use a nail scissors to help, so you can cut out the circle a little easier.

Step 4: Lay the two cut cardboard rings over each other. Or you pick up a pompom maker.

Step 5: Cut off a piece of your wool or yarn, which you want to use, about a meter away. Now wrap it around the two cardboard rings.

Step 6: The inner circle of your bobble template does not have to be completely closed with wool. If you let a little air, then your pompom will be looser and so you get this connect better through the circular opening of the hedgehog body shape. While you wrap the cardboard rings, you can also use another wool color in between, so add extra color accents.

Step 7: Then cut off a piece of wool or yarn about 25 cm long from the ball.

Step 8: Use your fingertips to slightly wind the wrapped wool around your pompom template so that you can see the cardboard rings. Now cut the wool along with the scissors in the middle between the two cardboard rings. Or you cut the pompom on the sides at the gap of the pompom maker.

Step 9: Between the two cardboard rings you now put a loop with your 25 cm long wool thread and pull it tight and then knot it tight.

Step 10: Cut your pompom into shape with scissors until the ball shape fits.

Step 11: At the pompom loop, pull the bobble through the round opening of the hedgehog's body. Finally, cut off the pommel loop.

Step 12: Now give your hedgehog a few cute eyes and a small tip of the nose.

Step 13: At the end, cut off another 10 cm long piece of wool thread and fasten it over the bobble on the clay paper piece of the hedgehog's body.

Done is the hedgehog!

Making pompom hedgehogs - variant 2

Quickly and easily create a cute hedgehog from a pompom and decorate your pompom hedgehogs in your home or simply give away these cute animals to your loved ones.

You need the following materials:

• two different wool colors, light gray and reddish brown (100% polyester)
• Pompom template from two cardboard rings or pompom maker stencil
• a few wobbly eyes and little pompom - felt balls
• scissors
• PVA glue

Step 1: Pick up your cardboard rings, as in variant 1, or a pompom maker stencil. First wrap half of this with the red-brown wool.

Step 2: Then pick up the light gray wool and wrap around a smaller part of the other half of your cardboard ring.

Step 3: Now take the red-brown wool and wrap the two pieces of the cardboard ring on the right and left of the light gray wool.

Step 4: Then cut the wound wool back in the middle between the two cardboard rings.

Step 5: Fix your bobble with a piece of thread, as you have already done in variant 1.

Step 6: Use a pair of scissors to cut the light gray wool into a hedgehog's snout. Shorten the scissors too possibly too long and protruding reddish brown wool threads.

Step 7: Now decorate your pompon hedgehog with the wobbly eyes and a nose tip from a pompom felt ball.

Your very own pompon hedgehog is ready.
