You need:
- Wool: color A (pink) and color B (gray)

Pro Lana's wool "Star" (50 g, 135 m, thickness 3.0 - 3.5) and a crochet hook of strength 4 were used. With the somewhat larger crochet hook, the double face pattern becomes looser and the potholder becomes looser flexible.

Beginning: color A
Start with color A. Crochet with these 45 meshes.
1st row: color A
Then crochet a shell pattern in the first row. This looks like this:
Crochet a chopsticks into the fourth loop of the chain. Then crochet 1 air mesh and then another two sticks in one and the same stitch.
Crochet the following pattern into every 5th mesh of the initial chain: 2 sticks, 1 airlock, 2 sticks.
Crochet this order until the end and the result is nine clumps of blocks.
2nd row: color A
Now apply the work. Then crochet 5 air meshes - it creates an air mesh arch. This is fixed with a strong mesh between the blocks of the previous row. Crochet more bows the same way until the end.
At the end of the row, leave the thread of color A in a loop.
Tip: If you pull a paper clip or a stitch marker through the loop, it will not slip easily.
Start: color B
Turn the crochet piece 180 ° to the right.
For color B, start with a tight loop crocheting between the 1st and 2nd sticks of the previous row.
Then crochet 5 stitches into the bow and fasten it with a tight stitch in the bow of the previous row. Crochet this way until the end of the series. Fix the last sheet with a strong stitch between the penultimate and last stick of the previous row.
1st row: color B
Now turn the crochet piece back through 180 °.
Fold up the bows that you just crocheted with color B.
Crochet 3 air meshes.
Then crochet a chopstick from below through the bow of color B and then between the 2nd and 3rd chopsticks of the shell block of the previous row (color A). The arc of color A is omitted. This is followed by an air mesh and then two rods again through one and the same puncture site.
Now crochet the pattern: 2 sticks, 1 air mesh, 2 sticks to the end of the row.
2nd row: color B
Now start the series with the air mesh bows of color B. Crochet 5 meshes and do the work.
Then attach the air mesh bow with a strong loop between the individual shell blocks of the previous row.
Crochet until the end of the row. At the end, the loop is fastened with the paperclip and you continue with color A.
Note: If you have done everything right, is now on each side of the crochet piece each a starting thread, or a paper clip.
Repetition of the pattern
The crochet pot holder consists of multiple repetition of the pattern just described.
Now crochet the pattern of the 1st row (stick blocks) and the 2nd row (air mesh sheets) of color B with the color A.
Then the color is changed and you continue with color B.
Crochet in the pattern (one row of chopsticks, one row of circular arcs with each color in turn) until the potholder has reached a square format. Finish the pattern with the row of bows of color B, the series of air mesh bows falls away.
Border of the potholder
To be able to crochet a pretty border, the two open slings must be on one side. You have already achieved this by omitting the last row of air stitches. Now turn the crochet piece 90 ° to the right.
Outline pattern:
- Crochet 5 color B stitches and attach them to the edge with a sturdy stitch
- Care must be taken to crochet through both sides.
- Likewise, the unused loop must be at the front when crocheting.
- Now crochet the other color in the bow and fasten it.
- In this way, the individual bows of the two colors are crocheted around each other.
Crochet in this way now the entire pot holder to the end.
Loop for hanging
So that the pot holder can also be hung, it needs a loop. This is crocheted at the end of the circuit at the last corner:
Crochet with color B 8 mesh and attach with a tight stitch. Then turn the work and crochet 16 strong stitches in the bow. This thread can now be cut off.
Then crochet 16 solid stitches with color A on the newly crocheted stitches of color B. The thread can now also be pulled through the last stitch and cut off.
The Doubleface pot holder is now ready and ready for use. The basic pattern can now be easily transferred to larger or smaller areas. For this you simply hit more or less meshes at the beginning. With this shell pattern, you only have to make sure that the number of air meshes has to be divisible by 5 . Otherwise the pattern will not work out at the end.
