Heat can do so much. It gives us security, relieves tension and relieves pain. With simple means and almost no costs, you can bring a little more warmth into your life - just make your own heat cushion. In this tutorial, you'll learn how to make a homemade sock from a simple sock in just 3 minutes - and you've got all the materials you need at home.

Especially in autumn and in winter, when the days are cold and gray, we love warmth pillows. Even if the heater and fireplace keep the room warm, small heating cushions add an extra cuddle effect. Heat can also help with back or neck pain, cold feet or pain in the joints. Then putting your back to the heater is but a small consolation.

This simple guide will show you the solution. Especially for power savers who are reluctant to use an electric heating pad for hours and for those who feel pain in the back from now on, the heat pad from the microwave is perfect. The Reissocke has the advantage that you can be adapted to the appropriate shape depending on which body of the body is to be kept warm. The rice in the sock makes it malleable and thus allows a uniform keeping warm.

You need this for a homemade heat sock:

  • two longer socks
  • rice
  • Yarn, ribbon or thread
  • funnel

Whether you fill long grain or round grain rice in the heat pad, is not crucial for the storage of heat. Round grain rice is a bit more pleasant in shape because the ends of the rice grain are round, while the long grain rice is already clearly felt by the sock.

Caution: Use only cotton stockings that are 100% cotton fibers.

Instructions: Heat pad with rice filling

Step 1: The sock must first be filled with the rice. Take the plastic funnel or a cardboard funnel and put it into the sock. The rice is now filled dry and uncooked.

Tip: Pay attention to the capacity - the amount of rice must not be too much, but not too little. In order for the pillow to be able to adapt to the body shape in retrospect, this requires a certain degree of flexibility.

Step 2: Now the sock is knotted at the opening and additionally closed with a thread or yarn. A rubber band is also suitable for this.

Tip: Make sure that the sock is tightly closed.

Step 3: Now cut off the end above the sock. To hide the knot, you can put a second sock over it.

Tip: To make the pillow also outwardly appealing, just take a colorful or even a fluffy cuddly sock as an outer shell. The advantage of this outdoor sock is also that it can be removed and washed at any time.

Step 4: Now the sock must be heated together with rice - just put the sock in the microwave for about 2 to 3 minutes at 600 watts.
