Plump warm, super light, a high shaft and absolutely flexible. These are qualities that characterize hut shoes. They are perfect for lolling on the sofa, that's why they like to be called Gammlos. Beginners can use their step-by-step instructions to crochet their own slipper or loafer slippers.

Material and preparation

To crochet hut shoes, you need no special knowledge. All you need is a basic knowledge of crocheting. Air meshes, half and whole sticks, that's all you need to be able to crochet.

It is only important that both hut shoes are the same size. Therefore, it is advisable to take small notes next to the crochet. In other words, write down how many slivers you have slashed, how many rounds you have crocheted, how many times you have taken off at the toe. Then you will be spared constant counting.

As always, when crocheting or knitting, place emphasis on good quality wool. There are very good blended yarns that keep you warm and yet durable. And you should pay attention to this with slipper shoes. You will not just loll with them on the sofa, you will walk with them through the room. Therefore, the yarn should also endure a bit.

Mixed wool is a combination of pure new wool and a synthetic fiber. This makes the wool very durable, the wearing properties of natural fiber are retained and mixed wool has perfect care properties.

You need this for a pair of slipper shoes:

We decided to use a mixed wool yarn that complies with the 413 Celtico line. Needle size 5. In the monochrome children's slipper shoe, our yarn is the ideal of Fischer wool. Needle size 4.

Depending on the shoe size you need:

  • Pair of slipper shoes for adults: 100 - 150 grams of mixed wool
  • Pair of children's shoes: 50 - 100 grams of mixed wool
  • Crochet hook according to the yarn size
  • Stopfnadel for sewing the threads

pattern

Half sticks:

Put an envelope around the crochet hook. Insert into the next puncture site (mesh) or air mesh. Pick up the working thread and pull it through the puncture site. There are now 3 loops on the crochet hook. Again pick up the thread on the needle and at the same time pull through all 3 loops.

Rod:

Work as with half a stick until 3 loops lie on the needle. Get back the work thread and pull through the first two loops, there are now 2 loops on the needle, again put a thread on the needle and pull through the remaining two loops.

Crochet 2 half sticks or 2 sticks into a stick:

Crochet 1 stick until 2 loops are left on the needle, crochet a second stick, but also pull the thread through only the first two loops. There are now 3 loops on the crochet hook. Get the work thread and pull it through all three loops.

Size Chart

Basically, it is difficult to specify a corresponding binding mesh size in the size chart for slippers or Gammlos. We will give you the necessary centimeter information, which should measure a hut shoe sole depending on the size of the shoe.

women

sizeFootsole length of the hut shoes
5 = 35.522 cm
6 = 3723 cm
7 = 3823.5 cm
8 = 39.524 cm
9 = 40.525 cm
10 = 4226 cm
11 = 4326.5 cm

Men

5.5 = 37.523.5 cm
6.5 = 38.524.5 cm
7 = 39.525 cm
8 = 40.526 cm
8.5 = 41.526.5 cm
9.5 = 42.527.5 cm
10 = 4328.5 cm
11 = 44.529 cm
12 = 45.529.5 cm
13 = 4730 cm

That is, if we specify for shoe size 39 - 24 centimeters, this corresponds exactly to the length of the crocheted sole.

And this centimeter indication of the sole corresponds to the sole length of the wearer.
Furthermore, it must be taken into account with the air stitch stop, with which wool thickness the hut shoe is worked. That is, the stronger the wool, the less air stitches have to be struck. However, if you crochet with a thinner wool, for example, Thickness 4, you will need to make more stitches.

Our three examples of slipper shoes show this very clearly. All three gammlos were crocheted with the same number of stitches, but always with a different woolen strength. The white hut shoe has the size 29, the green hut shoe size 37 and the gammlo in old rose has the size 39.

Crochet slippers

  • Shoe size 39
  • Foot length 24 centimeters
  • Wool and Crochet Hook Thickness No. 5

The entire shoe was crocheted with half sticks.

Our slipper shoes are easy to crochet for all foot sizes. You just change the number of meshes or crochet in a different wool size. If you have big feet, you may want to add another round to the sole without removing it. Everything else, such as the double-sided mesh increase in the sole or the decrease in the toe, always stays the same. For all shoe sizes, even for children's shoe shoes.

Stop and sole

25 air meshes + 2 climbing air meshes = 27 air meshes

Tip: Do not firmly tighten the stop thread before the 1st airlock. Let it go very loose and then start with the chain of stitches.

In the back row you can now work in this loose attack stitch all 7 half rods. Then tighten the stop thread vigorously. The loose stitch is tightened and no enlarged puncture hole is visible.

If you do so, you can only use 24 stitches + 2 riser sts.

1st row - back row:

  • Leave 2 air stitches as climbing air stitches
  • Crochet 24 half sticks
  • in the still free 1st Air mesh 7 half rods work

1st row - back row:

The back row starts with the last half stick of the back row. 24 half-sticks work. Crochet 4 half rods at the end of the row in the 1st riser. Finish the series with a slit stitch in the 2nd riser.

2nd row - back row:

  • 2 ascending air meshes
  • 24 half sticks in the straight row

Crochet 2 half sticks in each stitch of the rounding. The rounding now has 14 half sticks.

2nd row - back row:

In the straight line work again 24 half sticks. At the next round, which consists of 4 half sticks, crochet 2 half sticks into each half stick. The rounding now has 8 half sticks. Close the row with a chain stitch in the climbing air mesh. You now have 4 full rows in the sole of the foot.

3rd row - back row:

  • 2 ascending air meshes
  • Crochet 32 half rods
  • You have now arrived in the middle of the curve. Work 2 half sticks in each of the following 5 half sticks.

3rd row - back row:

Crochet 30 half pieces to the middle of the next round. Crochet 2 half sticks in the last 4 half sticks (8 half sticks). Finish the round with a chainstitch in the climbing airmesh.

The sole of the hut shoe is ready. It measures 24 inches.

Foot of the hut shoes

If you want a very loose slipper shoe, you can now crochet the foot with a stronger crochet hook (one size bigger). You can now work with whole chopsticks instead of half sticks. We start with the edge of the foot, which connects the sole with the foot.

1st round foot:

In this first round, the foot will visually separate from the sole.

Crochet 2 climbing air meshes. Crochet the whole round with half sticks. Nothing is taken off. In this round, always sting the stitches in the back stitch of the preliminary round. The front mesh member now covers the entire sole and visually separates it from the foot. The round ends with a chain stitch in the climbing bag.

2nd round foot:

  • 2 ascending air meshes
  • Also crochet only half rounds in this round. The footwall starts to set up.
  • Finish the round with a warp stitch.

3rd round foot

Crochet 2 climbing air meshes. Now fix the tip and the shaft. To do this, count the stitches of a round and divide them by 2. Hang a stitch marker exactly in the middle on both sides. For the toe, take 2 stitches less on both sides (4 stitches in total) on the left side and put your stitch markers there.

Now crochet from the last starting point of your work to the first stitch marker. It begins in the toe the first weight loss. From the first stitch marker to the second stitch marker, crochet two rods together. Instructions see basic pattern. Crochet the round to the end with half sticks and finish with a slit stitch.

4th round foot

Crochet this 4th round only if you have a high metatarsus. Otherwise, you can skip this round.

  • 2 ascending air meshes
  • Crochet this round with half sticks without removing
  • it ends with a chain stitch

Tip: Always take the stitch markers in the next round.

5th round foot

  • 2 ascending air meshes
  • work half rods until the first stitch marker

From 1st to 2nd stitch marker (19 stitches), crochet as follows:

  • 2 Ma (which means half sticks) crochet together
  • 1 normal half tr.
  • Crochet 2 Ma together
  • 1 half tr.
  • Crochet Ma together
  • 3 half tr.
  • Crochet 2 Ma together
  • 1 half tr.
  • Crochet 2 Ma together
  • 1 half tr.
  • Crochet 2 Ma together

Now we have arrived at the 2nd stitch marker and crochet until the end of the round with half sticks on. The round ends with a chain stitch.

6th round foot

  • 2 ascending air meshes
  • Work half rods until the first stitch marker.

In this round, take off between the stitch markers like this:

  • Crochet 2 stitches together
  • 1 half stick
  • Crochet 4 times 2 Ma
  • 1 half tr
  • Crochet 2 stitches together

Crochet the round again with half sticks and finish with a slit stitch.

7th round foot

  • 2 ascending air meshes
  • Crochet half the length of the first stitch marker

From 1st to 2nd stitch marker:

  • Crochet 2 stitches together 5 times
  • Finish the round with half a stick and a chain stitch.

8th round foot

  • 2 ascending air meshes
  • Work half sticks until the 1st stitch marker.

Between the stitch markers:

  • Crochet 4 times 2 stitches together
  • Finish the round with half a stick and a chain stitch.

The toe is now finished. It continues with the shaft.

shaft

The shaft is always worked in rounds. There is no acceptance.

Each round begins with two ascending streaks and ends with a chain stitch. How high you want to crochet the shaft is entirely up to you. We crocheted 9 rounds with half sticks straight up.

The first hut shoe is finished crochet. Crochet the second gammel exactly the same as the first one. There are no right or left slipper shoes, they can both be worn on each foot. Especially useful for children.

You can still attach an anti-slip coating to your slipper shoes. There is special liquid latex milk that you can buy in your craft shop.
