Material and preparation

It is important with baby pants that they warm the little worm. Therefore, you should attach great importance to the yarn that you are processing. Special baby yarns are usually particularly soft and very easy to care for. Some baby yarns even have the Ökotex 100 certificate, which characterizes low-pollution wool.

yarn

We chose a cotton blend for this “crochet baby pants” project. 50% cotton and 50% polyacrylic make the perfect blend so that the panties are warm, particularly soft and easy to care for. Our yarn, the Rico Baby Cotton Soft by Wolle Roedel, runs 125 m / 50 grams and is crocheted with a 3.5 mm crochet hook.

According to our instructions, you need for a crochet size 0 - 3 months:

  • 100 grams of baby thread 125 m / 50 grams
  • 1 crochet hook size 3.5
  • 2 buttons
  • Darning needle for sewing the working threads

Crochet Baby Pants manual

Crochet basic pattern of baby pants, you should be able to crochet these stitches:

  • stitches
  • single crochet
  • half double crochet
  • chain stitches

With these four stitches you can crochet the entire baby pants.

Pattern:

  • 1 half double crochet
  • 1 slip stitch
  • 1 half double crochet
  • 1 slip stitch
pattern

The pretty pattern for these crochet pants is created in this order. The pattern is crocheted as a spiral. That means there is no start or end of a round. At each start of the round, a chain stitch is automatically converted into half a double crochet and vice versa.

TIP: If you are still unsure, set the beginning of the round with a small thread or a stitch marker. This then moves with every round.

The cuff

Only tight stitches are crocheted in the cuff. However, these are only pierced into the back stitch.

Cuffs, beginning

In the case of a single crochet, it is usually stitched through both stitch members of the preliminary round stitch. In this case, just pierce the back stitch . For the front and the back row.

Baby pants waistband

  • the waistband - circumference 36 cm
Federal government work
  • 8 chain stitches + 1 reverse air stitch = cast on 11 chain stitches

1st row:

  • single crochet
  • 1 air mesh
Confederation, beginning

2nd row:

Single crochet stitches, but only in the back stitch of the preliminary round.

  • 1 air mesh

3rd row to the desired waistband size:

  • single crochets as in row 2
  • 1 air mesh
Continue crocheting the waistband

There are now so many rounds until the size of the crochet pants is reached. You can now vary and determine the size of your baby pants. We crocheted a circumference of 36 cm .

The waistband is now crocheted together on the left side. With this type of crocheting you will not see a seam. Insert the front 1st stitch and pull the opposite loop through.

  • 1 chain stitch

Then always insert the needle into the front stitch through both stitch links .

The waistband begins to crochet together

And prick into the back of the opposite loop, place working thread on the needle and work as a slip stitch.

Crochet the bundle together

Crochet all 10 stitches together.

After the last slip stitch:

  • Crochet 1 chain stitch
  • Turn work
  • Now crochet single crochets around the entire waistband

We have worked 80 single crochets.

Crochet the trousers

In the following round:

Double the first and every 10th stitch = 89 stitches. You need an odd number of stitches for the basic pattern. We have now changed the color.

Crochet the trousers

The first round in the basic pattern only crochet single crochets.

Work your body in the basic pattern

The crochet pants are crocheted in the basic pattern up to a total length (including waistband) of 20 centimeters. You determine your color change yourself, or you work the entire pair of pants in one color. Let your imagination play a little.

Pants body, color change

TIP: It can happen that the chain stitch of the preliminary round is very small and it is difficult to prick with the crochet hook.

To do this, put a crochet hook with a small needle size aside. Then simply replace the needles briefly when inserting them.

Crochet legs

The body of the baby pants is now crocheted. Finish the last stitch with a slip stitch. Cut the working thread and pull it through the loop. Determine the middle of the pants and thus the crotch. Count the stitches so that the crotch is exactly in the middle and 3 cm long. Crochet the legs to the right and left of it.

Crochet legs

The stitches for the crotch are closed. Start with one leg to crochet . Make sure that you continue to work according to the pattern.

Close the leg at the crotch:

To do this, connect the front part of the leg with the rear part with 1 or 2 chain stitches. With the chain stitches, you have to orientate yourself to your pattern so that it is always continued immediately.

Close the leg in the crotch

Now crochet the legs both 14 cm long, so you can make an envelope. Each leg is finished with two rounds of single crochet.

Continue crocheting legs

Crochet braces

The crochet baby pants project is almost done. Only the braces are missing. Although these are not a must, you can also leave them out. The straps are worked exactly like the waistband, but only with 6 stitches + 1 reversible air stitch. Our straps are 20 cm long. With the length of 18 centimeters, we have incorporated a buttonhole.

Crochet braces

Work the buttonhole as described below.

RS row:

  • 2 single crochets
  • 2 chain stitches
  • 2 single crochet
  • 1 air mesh

Back row:

  • 2 single crochets
  • Crochet single crochets into the chain stitches as well
  • 2 single crochets

Continue crocheting the straps up to 20 cm normally. Finish the last row with single crochets. Cut the thread and pull it through the loop. Sew the working threads . Sew the straps to the waistband on the back of the pants.

Sew braces on trousers

Now only two buttons have to be sewn on and a little baby pant is ready.
