Even after all the years of crocodile fever that clung to me, I am always excited about what can be made of a simple thread and a needle wonderful. It fascinates me with every project, to see how stitch by stitch something grows, which comes afterwards almost lifelike. So also with the crocodiles, which are crocheted after the Amigurumi technique. Here's how easy it is to crochet animals.

In crocodiles, this phenomenon manifests itself in a very special way. Several small parts fit together to a cute fellow. Here are the instructions for two crocheted animals delivered. The crochet pig is said to bring good luck and also the crocheted ladybug is considered a lucky charm.

Crocheted animals are worked with Amigurumi technique in spiral rounds and fixed loops. Mark the round crossing with a marking thread.

Crochet pig

Material for a crochet pig

With thin wool (run length approx. 120 - 130 m / 50 g) and a crochet hook No. 3, 0, a small crocheted piglet with a length of approx. 7 cm is created.

The instructions show a slightly larger lucky charm (finished length incl. Ringelschwänzchen about 19 cm). The crochet pig was crocheted with 1 ball Boston Sun from Schachenmayr (100 m / 100 g) and a crochet hook No. 7.0.

Also: safety eyes, stuffing and a wool remnant in the same needle size as the main yarn for the nostrils.

Head and body

Round 1: Crochet 6 stitches into a string. Close round 1 with Kettmasche and crochet now in spiral rounds.

Round 2: Double each of these 6 stitches (= 12 stitches)
Double the stitch: Crochet one stitch as usual and crochet a second stitch at the same point.

Round 3: Every 2nd stitch is doubled (= 18 stitches). (Photo 2941)

Round 4: Every 3rd stitch is doubled (= 24 stitches).

Round 5 - Round 7: Crochet all 24 stitches once, do not double stitches.

Round 8: The muzzle goes over into the forehead area. All you need is increases at the top of the lap. Crochet 10 stitches, double the following 4 stitches, then crochet the last 10 stitches of the round (= 28 stitches).

Round 9: Crochet the first 12 stitches, double the next 4 stitches and crochet the last 12 stitches of the round (= 32 stitches).

Round 10: Crochet the first 14 stitches, double the next 4 stitches and then crochet the last 14 stitches of the round (= 36 stitches).

Now is the best time to fix the safety eyes: put between 4 stitches in between the 9th and 10th rounds (in the area where the increases were crocheted).

Round 11 - Round 19: Crochet all 36 stitches once, do not double stitches.

At the highest points of the back, stitches are taken in the following rounds. To do this, cut off 2 stitches at a time (start one stitch, leaving the two loops on the needle, pierce the next stitch again, get the thread and pull through all three loops).

Round 20: Crochet every 5th and 6th stitch together (bleached together) (= 30 stitches).

Round 21: Crochet all 30 stitches once, do not remove any stitches.

Round 20: Crochet each 4th and 5th stitch together (blotted off together) (= 24 stitches).

Round 22: Crochet all 24 stitches once, do not remove any stitches.

Round 23: Crochet every 3rd and 4th stitch together (mixed off together) (= 18 stitches).

Round 24: Crochet every 2nd and 3rd stitch (combed together) (= 12 stitches).
Before the hole becomes too small, I stuff the crocheted animal with cotton wool.

Round 25: Crochet 2 stitches together (cut off together) (= 6 stitches).
Sew the remaining small hole with the remaining work thread.

legs

Crochet your legs four times
Round 1: Crochet 6 stitches into a string. Close round 1 with Kettmasche and crochet now in spiral rounds.

Round 2: Every 2nd stitch is doubled (= 9 stitches).
Round 3 - Round 6: Crochet all 9 stitches once, do not double stitches. Finish the leg with a chain stitch.

Always stuff the finished legs with stuffing cotton.

ears

Crochet the ears twice:

Round 1: 4 stitches are crocheted in a thread ring. Close round 1 with a chain stitch.

Round 2: Every 2nd stitch is doubled (= 6 stitches).

Round 3: Every 3rd stitch is doubled (= 8 stitches).

Round 4: Every 4th stitch is doubled (= 10 stitches).

Round 5: Every 5th stitch is doubled (= 12 stitches).

The ears are not stuffed.

curly tail

Cast on 6 air stitches + one spiral air stitch. Crochet 1 sturdy stitch into the first stitch of the chain and crochet 3 stitches in each stitch. As a result, the tail curls up.

nostrils

The 2 nostrils work with the contrasting color. It will be crocheted each 5 stitches in a thread ring. Close the thread ring with the chain stitch, cut the work thread and pull it through, done!

Assembly of the items

So that the crochet takes shape and our happy crochet pig is recognized as such, the individual parts now only need to be put together.

The legs come to the bottom of the body. (Important: first poke to find the correct placement and only then sewn).

Now turn the body so that you can look the crochet pig in the face and the ears obliquely over the eyes first attach and then sew tight. The ears are squeezed flat. The tail curls naturally at the rump and the nostrils complement the snout.

Crochet with black wool.

Round 1: Crochet 6 stitches into a string.

Round 2: Each stitch is doubled (= 12 stitches).

Round 3: Every 2nd stitch is doubled (= 18 stitches).

Round 4: Every 3rd stitch is doubled (= 24 stitches).

Round 5: Every 4th stitch is doubled (= 30 stitches).

Round 8 - 11: Crochet all 42 sts once, do not double stitches.

The conclusion is a Kettmasche and the bottom is finished!

Cast on a chain with 6 air stitches and a spiral air stitch. Crochet 6 warp stitches along the chain of stitches.

Head of the beetle

Now crochet with black wool:

Round 1: Crochet 6 stitches into a string.

Round 2: Each stitch is doubled (= 12 stitches).

Round 5 + 6: Crochet all 21 stitches once, do not double stitches.

Round 7: Crochet every 6th and 7th stitch together (bleached together) (= 18 stitches).

Round 8: Crochet every 2nd and 3rd stitch (combed together) (= 12 stitches).

The conclusion forms a Kettmasche. The head is ready! He can immediately be stuffed with stuffing. And you can hide the initial thread inside the head.

Eyes of the beetle

Crochet the 2 eyes with white wool. 6 stitches are crocheted into a thread ring. Close the thread ring with the chain stitch, cut off the thread and then pull it through. Sew small eye buttons into the center of the thread ring with either black wool or push through black safety eyes. The eyes are ready!

Crochet 4 - 7 points with black wool as desired. 6 stitches are crocheted into a thread ring. Close the thread ring with the chain stitch, cut the work thread and pull it through.

Assembly of the items

First, beetle top and bottom are stitched together. Once there is only one small opening left, stuff the body and put the remaining needle pricks.

The head is sewn to the front of the beetle and then supplemented with the eyes and the feelers.

Finally, the individual lucky points must be sewn on the red body shell. The crochet beetle is ready!
