Knitters love to spice up their own wardrobe with pullovers, tank tops and cardigans in their favorite colors. The wide range of different knitting instructions gives everyone the opportunity to let their own creativity run wild and to tailor the various designs and knitting patterns to their own size.

Especially with larger projects, the number of originally damaged meshes often has to be reduced during the working process. Especially for garments, it is absolutely necessary to work clean, as errors in the fabric are easily visible. This fact is an obstacle for many beginners to even venture into such DIY projects. So that you do not feel the same way, we have created here an overview of the most common types of mesh loss.

For a knitting project you need the following materials:

  • Wool
  • knitting needles
  • Needles for sewing
  • crochet hook
  • scissors
  • tape measure

The first two variants are used either to decouple the entire knit fabric to remove stitches on the neckline or horizontal buttonholes. How to knit buttonholes can be found here: //www.zhonyingli.com/knopfloch-stricken/

Bind off the stitches with the crochet hook

This is the simplest variant, which is why it is very popular with beginners.

1. Guide the crochet hook from right to left through the first stitch.
2. Place the thread around the crochet hook with your left index finger.
3. Pass the thread through the loop with the crochet hook.
4. Leave the resulting stitch on the crochet hook and pass it through the next stitch.
5. Repeat steps 2 and 3. Now there are two stitches on the crochet hook.
6. Using your index finger, thread the thread around the crochet hook and pass it through both stitches.
7. Repeat steps 4 through 6 as needed to bind off the next stitches.

Bind off the stitches with the knitting needle

This variant requires some practice and is therefore more suitable for experienced knitters.

1. Pass the right knitting needle on the back of the left from right to left through two adjacent stitches.
2. Grasp the thread with the right knitting needle and guide it through both stitches.
3. There is a stitch on the right knitting needle. Let her glide from there onto the left knitting needle.
4. Repeat steps 1 to 3.

Bind off sides or centers

The following variant is usually used to remove stitches on the sides or the center of the knit. But it can also be used for binding off. To do this, use the following steps:

1. Knit right stitch

  • Insert the right needle underneath the stitch and pass it through from left to right.
  • Pass the thread around the right needle with your left index finger.
  • Pass the thread with the right knitting needle through the stitch to the front.

2. Knit the left stitch

  • Lay the thread forward with your index finger in front of the stitch.
  • Pass the right needle through the loop from right to left.
  • Grasp the thread with the needle and guide it through.

3. Lift the stitch on the right

  • Put the right knitting needle in front of the stitch.
  • Pass it through the loop from left to right.
  • Slide the stitch on the right knitting needle without working the thread.

4. Lift the left stitch

  • Place the thread with your index finger in front of the stitch.
  • Guide the knitting needle through the loop from right to left.
  • Let the stitch slide on the right knitting needle without incorporating the thread.

5. Cover the mesh

  • Put the left knitting needle on the lifted stitch.
  • Pass the knitting needle through the loop from left to right.
  • Extend the stitch by pulling the left knitting needle slightly away from the right one.
  • Pass the right knitting needle through the loop from left to right.

Remove stitches by coating

Remove right-hand stitch

1. Lift the first stitch on the right.
2. Knit second stitch on the right.
3. Cover the first stitch over the second.
4. Repeat steps 2 to 3 as needed.

Remove the left mesh

1. Lift off the first stitch on the left.
2. Knit second stitch on the left.
3. Cover the first stitch over the second.
4. Repeat steps 2 to 3 as needed.
