Their shoes press in hellishly and wearing becomes pure torture ">

When the shoes push, every meter becomes an uncomfortable strain. They not only squeeze but cause blisters that can be even more painful and need to be treated. To escape this agony, numerous home remedies are available, through which you can make your shoes wearable again. The big advantage of them is the availability, because you do not need expensive stretch spray or the service of a shoemaker for it. All means are easy to use and allow the right execution a soft, comfortable shoe that no longer pushes. In addition, they are cheap and in many cases come at no cost to you.

For which material are the home remedies suitable?

Not all shoes can be widened. In itself, only genuine leather can be widened and made softer, as the structure of the material offers for it. With the home remedies you can soften any textiles, whether natural or synthetic origin, or artificial leather. The home remedies would irreversibly damage shoes made of these materials. For fabric shoes, it just helps to wash them and dry them properly, while on synthetic leather shoes you need to use pads or gel pads to increase comfort. However, the means presented below are perfect for every leather, from velor to nubuck to sleek leather, and no shoe trees are needed.

Tip: Alternatively, it is advisable to buy oppressive shoes in a new width, if they are already uncomfortable when first worn. Here, the width H for wide and the width K for very wide feet offer.

Home remedies for pressing shoes

vinegar

Vinegar, the all-purpose household detergent, can not only be used for cooking and cleaning, but is also ideal for softening shoes. The acid in the vinegar acts immediately on the leather and ensures that it becomes supple again. It is best to use a classic vinegar essence, which you can buy in any supermarket. The advantage of this is the smell and the color. Since this is a colorless vinegar, the shoes do not discolor and the smell pulls out of the material quite quickly. When using the vinegar, proceed as follows:

Step 1: Take a clean spray bottle and fill it half full with water. The spray bottle does not have to be big, even 250 ml are enough here completely. Now fill up the rest with vinegar and shake well, so that the vinegar solution can be applied well.

Step 2: The solution must be applied differently, depending on whether only one or all shoes are pressed. If you need to treat just one spot, spray the solution on a cotton pad and massage the vinegar into the leather. If you want to soften the entire shoe, spray the upper completely from the inside.

Step 3: Wear the shoe with socks for a while. Since vinegar dries quickly, you have to do it immediately. Move with the shoes to stretch and soften the leather. After a short while, the leather stays in the desired width and feels supple again on the foot.

potatoes

Potatoes and vinegar are well suited to soften oppressive shoes. The contained moisture is quickly absorbed by the leather and can thus reduce pressure points, while the starch in the potatoes makes the material soft and supple. All you need is a potato, newspaper and the following instructions:

Step 1: Pick out a potato that fits in the shoe and halve it with a knife.

Step 2: Now push the two halves to the pressing parts of the shoe inside. In most cases, a large potato is sufficient for this, but if you want to make the whole shoe supple, you may need to use more potatoes. The amount of potatoes depends on the shoe size and style. So boots need more potatoes than loafers.

Step 3: After pressing the potatoes to the shoe inside, stuff the shoe with newspaper. As a result, the potatoes can not slip.

Step 4: Let the shoes work overnight. Then take the s out of the shoe and wear it briefly to adjust the shape to your feet.

Hairdryer and socks

Not only moisture is the treatment of shoes. With a hair dryer and enough socks, you can not only stretch shoes that push, the material is soft and cuddly. Leather changes shape when temperature changes, making it so easy to use. Proceed as follows:

  • put on thick socks and put on pressy shoes
  • Now heat the leather from the outside at a low level in the desired location
  • You can also heat the entire shoe
  • turn the hair dryer off after a while and move in your shoes
  • as long as the shoes are still pressing, the procedure must be repeated

At the end you should maintain the shoe with shoe polish, because the leather can dry out very much. Only use this home remedy with care when wearing shoes with adhesive bonds.

Tip: if you want to soften particularly small parts of the shoe, take a spoon in the desired size to hand, for example, a tea or latte macchiato spoon. Heat this over the hair dryer and then press it on the desired place.

freeze bag

Heat and cold are two extremes and can be used efficiently for pressing shoes. For this variant you need a freezer bag and something to close, for example, strong tape or even better shutters. Proceed as follows:

  • put the freezer bag in the shoe
  • this should fill the complete shoes
  • The opening of the freezer bag must be removed from the shoe. Fill the bag with water
  • then close the bag securely and airtight
  • Place the shoe with the filled bag in the freezer for eight to twelve hours

As the water freezes, it increases in volume, gently stretching the shoe. If you remove the shoes from the freezer, you can wear them immediately.

newsprint

A particularly simple variant that also uses water. Take a newspaper, no leaflets, and crumple each page. Moisten them with enough water and put them in your shoes. You can take more newspaper here, because the more moisture reaches the leather, the more effective the method. Nevertheless, you must pay attention to the following points:

  • Shoe must not bulge
  • the form must be kept
  • evenly distribute the paper to keep the shape
  • Leave the damp paper in your shoes overnight and then wear it briefly.

spirit

Alcohol, alternatively, you can use high-percentage cleaning alcohol, is absorbed effectively in the material and can therefore be used well. If you do not have alcohol in the house, you can buy it at the hardware store. There is a bottle of 750 to 1, 000 milliliters for about three to five euros offered. If you have the spirit at hand, follow this guide:

Step 1: Take the alcohol and put a little on a cotton or cleaning cloth. The place should be quite moist.

2nd step: Now rub the inside of the shoes thoroughly with the spirit. Be sure to treat the entire upper as this is the only way to soften the leather.

Step 3: Since alcohol is slow in comparison to water, the shoes must now be worn for a long time. In the beginning, it could still hurt, but over time, the leather adapts more and more to the shape of your feet. The big advantage of this method is the long-lasting effect. The shoes are then no longer close and can be worn for a long time without pain and problems.

Massage

This variant works for shoes whose seams press. You can easily massage them with your fingers to soften them, but this process takes time and strength. Press the seams slightly outwards and vary the pressure slightly to allow the material to work. The more time you spend on this method, the better the result.
