It's hard to believe, but sticky Glibber triggers a huge trend wave worldwide - the talk is of homemade mucus. Sounds absurd, but it is true. We reveal in this manual how to make such mucus itself. There are a variety of different recipes - with or without glue, detergent and shaving cream. Try it out and experiment with it - maybe you'll become a slime expert!

Handicrafts and handicrafts are not without reason soothing and relaxing. Working with the hands is especially important in childhood for fine motor skills and the development of one's own creativity. The haptic experience of different materials brings children joy and arouses the urge to research. Straight materials such as dough, clay and clay are ideally suited for the first crafting experience.

But there is something new - or rather, something old: slime or slime. Already in the 90s, the green, viscous mucus was a popular joke article. Children and adolescents could not have enough of it. But now you do not just buy this slime, but you make it yourself - all in the name of DIY. The special thing is that it is really easy and you only need a few ingredients.

Instructions and recipes - DIY slime

Recipe with glue & detergent

You need:

  • liquid detergent
  • Glue
  • shaving cream
  • Food coloring
  • 1 tablespoon, 1 teaspoon
  • Bowl

Step 1: Fill two tablespoons craft glue into a bowl. If the glue is white, the mucus will later become dull. If the glue is transparent, then the mucus is also clear.

Step 2: Now add a teaspoon of shaving cream. Stir the glue and foam into a mass.

Step 3: Now add liquid detergent or hand soap - just a few drops. Stir everything well with the spoon. You should now notice that the glue is more difficult to stir.

Note: detergent makes the mucus more liquid, glue makes it firmer.

Step 4: Then dye the glue with food coloring. Stir the paint well.

5th step: Now the existing liquid must be stirred out of the mucus. Always add a few drops of detergent while stirring. The mucus should slowly become more compact, difficult to stir and also pull strings. We added about 6 times a little detergent during the stirring process.

Step 6: The mucus is almost finished when the mass has formed into a lump. You can also remove all residues from the edge. The shell should then have no leftovers at the edge, because everything has connected to a mass. Now is the time to knead the mucus with your hands. He will still be pulling strings. But by constant reciprocation the mucus remains in its form.

If you do not want to take the risk, leave the mucus for 1 hour. Then the liquid should have collected above. You can skim off the liquid with a spoon. Thus, the mucus becomes more and more solid and finally a compact lump, which you can pull apart without breaking it. Finished! Have fun!

Tip: You can also leave the slime covered overnight - the next day it is then ready for use.

Recipe with contact lens fluid

You need:

  • craft glue
  • shaving cream
  • Contact lense liquid
  • bowl
  • whisk

Step 1: Put a big sip of glue in the bowl.

Step 2: Then spray shaving cream into the bowl - the surface should be covered.

Step 3: Now add some contact lens fluid and food coloring and stir everything with a stir bar. The mass should solidify more and more after some time and combine into a sticky lump. Finished!

Mucus from toothpaste

You need:

  • toothpaste
  • Glue
  • food starch
  • Food coloring

Step 1: Put four tablespoons of toothpaste in a bowl.

2nd step: Now the pasta is dyed with food coloring.

Step 3: Then add two tablespoons craft glue.

Step 4: Stir everything well.

Step 5: Then add some cornstarch in the bowl and stir. Stir and knead the mucus until it becomes firmer and more elastic.

Just add some starch or glue for the right consistency. You need a little patience while stirring and mixing. But after 10 minutes, the mucus should definitely be so far that you can take him in the hands. Done is the slime!

Glitter Slime - recipe without glue

You need:

  • dish soap
  • salt
  • possibly food coloring
  • Glitter

Step 1: Put the dish soap in a bowl or bowl.

2nd step: Now comes a pinch of salt. Stir this well in the soap. The detergent should now slowly turn into a viscous mucus. If not, add some salt. Always add a little bit of salt. If it is too much salt, the mucus immediately becomes liquid again. Stir the mucus vigorously for 10 minutes.

3rd step: Now the mucus is colorful - color it at will with food coloring and glitter. Everything should be well mixed. Finished!

This mucus is rather a Glibber that can not be taken in the hand. But he still provides the right mucus effect!

Non-Newtonian fluid

You need:

  • Food coloring
  • 2 cups of cornstarch
  • 250 ml - 350 ml of water
  • spoon
  • 2 bowls

Step 1: At the beginning, the water is heated in the kettle. But turn off the stove before cooking. Now put 250 ml of hot water in a bowl.

Step 2: Then add some food coloring to this water. Stir the color.

Step 3: Afterwards, fill two cups of spit into the other bowl. Add the colored, still hot water to the starch.

Stir everything thoroughly. If the mucus is too fluid, add more starch. If it is too tight, add some water.

Finished! This DIY slime is smoother compared to the other recipes and can quickly cause a mess. But he is completely harmless. Since no chemical ingredients have been used, toddlers can safely play with it and sometimes take the mucus in the mouth. It's really easy! The mucus is firm on movement and liquid in the quiet state - this is called non-Newtonian fluid. For children a really interesting and exciting toy!
