Crochet mouse | Material and preparation

Amigurumis can basically be crocheted with a wide variety of threads . It is only important that you always work with the matching crochet hook.

You achieve the best effect of the figures with a cotton thread. Cotton not only remains dimensionally stable, it also shows a clear stitch pattern. This is particularly important with small figurines, because it can also bring out the beautiful details of a work.

filling material

Amigurumis are stuffed just before they are finished. The filling material gives your crochet a perfect shape. By plugging you can shape the figure a little bit according to your imagination. For our “crochet mouse” project, we opted for a fluffy synthetic filling . Not only can this be stuffed very well, it also gives the figure the perfect shape.

In addition to the look, care is also important, especially if the Amigurumi crochet mouse is used for playing . The synthetic filling cotton can be washed very well in the washing machine and then dries without clumping.

Crochet material for a mouse

For this Amigurumi crochet mouse we chose the LINIE 165 SANDY yarn from Trendgarne.de. It is a wonderfully soft cotton yarn that is offered in many colors. What was also important to us, the yarn is absolutely easy to care for and retains its strong colors even after washing.

For your crochet mouse you need:

  • 30 grams of cotton yarn 120 meters / 50 grams in the basic color
  • colorful yarn leftovers for crochet mouse accessories
  • 1 crochet hook 2.5 mm thick
  • Filling cotton for stuffing
  • 2 eye buttons
  • Darning needle for sewing the individual parts together

Basic pattern "crochet mouse"

Each individual body part of the mouse begins with a thread ring and is worked on with single crochets . If you are no longer completely familiar with some working techniques, you can look up all the necessary techniques in our "Learn to crochet" section.

The tail

At the very end, the little crochet mouse gets a little tail. To do this, crochet an air chain in the length you would like the tail to be. Then work back with slip stitches. We didn't crochet these slip stitches in the first loop, as normal, but in the second loop . Then the tail does not become so thick, but remains slim.

All individual parts are now crocheted and stuffed. Now sew the head on the body, the ears on the head and all limbs and the small tail on the body of the crochet mouse.

Finally, sew the eyes on the little mouse. We used two small pearls for this. However, if you have crocheted the mouse as a toy for a toddler, we recommend embroidering your eyes . Three small stitches with black thread are sufficient.
