materials

shaving cream

It does not have to be the highest quality foam - on the contrary. Take the cheapest one you can find. Only if you want to process the foam mixed with the colors to finger colors for smaller children, you should resort to a product for very sensitive skin. Often the little ones want to explore the foam intensively with their hands. In this case, good compatibility is important. After all, painting with shaving cream should only be fun - do not lead to burning or itchy skin.

To dye

As far as the colors are concerned, some variants are possible. Children (with), it is ideal to use food colors from the baking department. Otherwise, however, water colors or acrylics are also conceivable (for mature children and adult artists). Just use what you like best.

paper

You alone decide how big or small the paper should be. However, we advise you to buy some thicker bows . These bring more stability with them. With thin paper, the final images may show extremely ugly wrinkles, which may darken the result a little. In addition, the paper should be white, but pastels are also suitable as a background.

rod

It does not matter if you use toothpicks, other wooden sticks or aluminum bars. All mentioned variants work equally well. If you decide to use the mix of foam and colors literally as finger paints, you can completely dispense with these aids.

triangle ruler

Do not worry, it's not meant to measure anything. Rather, it helps to strip off the excess foam at the end of the paper. Alternatively, a normal ruler, a spatula and similar items are also suitable.

container

You only need a cardboard box or a washable container if you do not want to apply the foam-color-mix directly to the paper, but prefer the other method (manual "paper on shaving foam"). In this case, for example, a baking sheet or baking paper as a base comes into consideration.

That is all. Now follow our two instructions that guide you step by step to enchanting shaving cream pictures.

Paper on shaving cream

Step 1: Prepare your chosen container, such as a cardboard box or casserole dish, baking sheet lined with baking paper, or just baking paper that you place on the table.

Tip: Only use baking paper has the practical advantage that you do not have to wash anything afterwards, but only need to throw away the paper with the foam on it.

Step 2: Shake the shaving foam box vigorously for a short time.

Step 3: Spray the foam on the baking paper or in the container - be sure to spread it evenly. So do not overdo it (even if it's fun to spray wildly with the can).

Step 4: Pick the colors you want to use (food colors or acrylics, maybe even watercolors).

Step 5: Apply a few drops of your desired color to the foam.

Tip: Here you can try out different combinations per paper sheet. Paint it very colorful, sometimes focused only on a certain color group (such as various red or blue tones mixed together).

Step 6: Pick up a stick (such as a toothpick).

Tip: If you prefer to work directly on your work, use your fingers instead of a stick.

Step 7: Pull the stick (or your fingers) to your heart's through the shaving foam with the drops of paint. You can go in very different directions, such as creating circles or waves.

Ultimately, images are created that are reminiscent of the look of marble stones. Sometimes, when talking about shaving cream, people also talk about "making marbled paper."

Tip: Advanced users of shaving cream also have the opportunity to consciously integrate specific patterns into the colorful foam.

Step 8: Grab the paper you want to color.

Step 9: Lay the paper on the colorfully patterned foam.

Step 10: Press the paper down slightly (evenly!) To catch every area and make a nice color.

Step 11: Wait a moment.
Step 12: Carefully pull the paper out of the foam.

Note: Now the whole shaving cream sticks to the paper. This is completely normal.

Step 13: Place your paper face up on a base (such as another piece of baking paper or newspaper).
Step 14: Grab the triangle or a similar utensil (ruler, spatula and so on).

Step 15: Push the excess foam from the paper into the container or onto the foamy baking paper with the aid selected.

Note: Be careful not to change the pattern on the paper too much (unless it is desired!). But: Be sure to remove as much foam as possible. Small foam residues are no problem - they dry quickly. But if you leave too much of it, your image will most likely be muddy and unattractive. Thus, this last step is still an important one, which you should do with as much passion as painting with shaving cream.

Now your artwork is almost finished. You just have to let it dry - whether indoors or outdoors (even in the sun).

Shaving cream on paper

Step 1: Place a piece of paper on a surface (such as an old newspaper).
Step 2: Spray a few swabs of shaving cream onto the paper - as evenly as possible.

3rd step: If necessary, spread the foam with a set square, ruler or spatula.

Step 4: Then apply a few drops of paint to the foam.

Step 5: Then use a stick or your fingers to paint any pattern in the colored foam.

Step 6: When you're tired of it, wait a moment.

Step 7: "Scrape" the foam with the (cleaned!) Geodreieck, ruler or spatula from the paper down. Again, it is important that you work carefully.

Finished! Finally, the picture only has to dry, as already described in the first manual for finger paints.

applications

Potential applications for beautiful DIY shaving cream pictures

Your DIY shaving cream pictures are versatile. First and foremost, of course, the use of shaving cream is fun . After all, it does not hurt if the finished work of art also gets a special job. For example, the method is suitable for designing individual birthday cards or special stationery. In addition, you can frame your best pictures and hang or give away.

Painting with shaving cream promotes child development

Harmless finger paints, which definitely include shaving cream and food dyes, give children the opportunity to learn in a playful way. It is ideal if they actually paint with their fingers and do not use a chopstick.

Painting with shaving cream promotes coordinative dexterity and, most importantly, mental creativity . Therefore, it is recommended that this method not only in the private sector, but also, for example, in kindergartens or schools in the classroom to integrate.

When painting with shaving cream there is only a sense of achievement, because every picture looks beautiful in its own way and is unique to it!

Tip: In younger children, however, you should keep an eye out that no girl or boy takes the foam in the mouth. It is best to tell the little kid before they start painting with their short instructions on finger paints that they are not allowed to eat this white (or colorful) foamy stuff.
