When building a house or renovating, numerous points have to be taken into account so that the structural integrity is correct and the premises can be used accordingly. Doors are essential in many rooms and serve to delimit individual rooms. Because of this, the doors need to sit perfectly to serve their purpose. This is made possible by the standardized door dimensions, with which the construction project is facilitated.

You are renovating your house and want to replace a door or build a new wall "> Dimensions of room doors

The door dimensions are defined by the DIN standard 18101, which describes exactly how high and wide the doors may be. In contrast, the DIN standard 18100 describes the sizes of the wall openings, which are used together with the respective sizes. Overall, the following values are required for the proper installation of the doors:

1. Width and height of the wall opening dimension in millimeters (mm): this value describes the required height and width of the wall opening.

2. The smallest wall opening dimension in millimeters (mm): this value indicates how big the wall opening must be at least so that the door can still be inserted into the wall.

3. Width unfolded in millimeters (mm): this value describes the width of an unrebated door.

4. Height unrebated in millimeters (mm): this value describes the height of an unrebated door.

5. Width rebated in millimeters (mm): this value describes the width of a rebated door.

6. Height rebated in millimeters (mm): this value describes the height of a rebated door.

7. External dimensions Aperture in millimeters (mm): this value defines the width and height of the external dimension. For the information below, a classic 60 mm aperture is used.

Tip: Door dimensions are mainly used for the installation of doors in a new building. The standard fits all other standardized parts of the door unit together and can be installed thus save time and money.

Single-leaf doors

Of course, single-leaf doors are most common in houses and in many different variations. For this reason, more dimensions according to the standard are required for this type of door. This as follows:

These dimensions are not the only ones standardized by DIN 18100. Doors with frames require only a larger wall opening dimension, while all other values remain the same. The only value that is no longer used for the Zargentüren is the smallest Wandöffnungsmaß. The dimensions at a glance:

  • 653 x 2, 005 becomes 645 x 2, 015
  • 760 x 2, 005 becomes 770 x 2, 015
  • 885 x 2, 005 becomes 895 x 2, 015
  • 1, 010 x 2, 005 becomes 1, 020 x 2, 015
  • 1, 135 x 2, 005 becomes 1, 145 x 2, 015
  • 1, 260 x 2, 005 becomes 1, 270 x 2, 015
  • 635 x 2, 130 becomes 645 x 2, 140
  • 760 x 2, 130 becomes 770 x 2, 140
  • 885 x 2, 130 becomes 895 x 2, 140
  • 1, 010 x 2, 130 becomes 1, 020 x 2, 140
  • 1, 135 x 2, 130 becomes 1, 145 x 2, 140
  • 1, 260 x 2, 130 becomes 1, 270 x 2, 140

Two-leaf doors

Double-leaf doors are always larger due to their double door and therefore require different values. With these, it is even more important to use the right dimensions, otherwise they will not sit properly in the wall and cause numerous problems when closing. Since doors with two wings are usually heavier, errors must be avoided so that the function of the door is not restricted. The dimensions for double-leaf doors as follows:
