When it's cold outside, our fingers feel that way. Damp fingers are uncomfortable, so we like to wrap our hands warm in winter. Good if there are different gloves for every purpose in the wardrobe.

Gloves - whether mittens or finger gloves - are knit in rounds. Therefore you need to knitting a needles game from 5 individual knitting needles. If you knit more loosely, it is advisable to knit a half to whole needle size smaller than indicated on the woolen banderole.

Wool and mesh

In the manual there are tables in which you will find the data for glove knitting with different wool strengths. So that you finally come to the desired overall result and the knitted gloves also fit properly, you should definitely knit a small stitch sample at the beginning.

Knit: Knit about 20-30 stitches and knit a small piece. First measure how many stitches you use in the width and how many rows you must knit to reach a height of 10 cm.

Width: The measuring tape shows 16 stitches over a width of 7 cm. This corresponds to about 22 stitches per 10 cm.

Height: The measuring tape shows 6 rows at a height of 2 cm. This corresponds to about 30 rows or rounds to 10 cm.

Glove Size

Before you start knitting, you should determine the size of your gloves. The circumference of the hand is measured above the thumb and the length of the hand corresponds to the distance from the carpal to the end of the middle finger.

Mittens - knit gloves

Gloves are knitted from the back, from the cuff, forward to the fingertips.

Knitting cuffs

Beat the necessary number of stitches evenly distributed over 4 needles. (Alternatively, hit the entire number of stitches on a needle and then spread the stitches evenly over your 4 knitting needles).

Finish the work by turning off the first stitch of the first needle.

Now knit the cuff in rounds to the desired length (minimum 6 cm) in the cuff pattern.

Possible cuff pattern

1 stitch on the left, 1 stitch on the right - 2 stitches on the left, 2 stitches on the right - garter stitch on the right (1 round stitch on the right, 1 round stitch on the left)

Knit back of hand and inner surface

After completion of the cuff, continue knitting in rounds on the right. Knitting (in each glove size) first 2 rounds. From the 3rd round after the cuff, the increases for the thumb wedge are knitted.

Right glove

Make the increases on the first needle:

Knitt off 2 stitches on the right, pick up the cross thread in front of the 3rd stitch on the needle and knit right (cut in from the back), knit the 3rd stitch on the right, after the 3rd stitch pick up the cross thread on the needle, knit off right and so on Add a second stitch, knit the remaining stitches of the right needle = 3 wedge stitches

The remaining 3 needles are knitted without increments.

* Knit 2 rounds without increasing and in the 3 round increase 2 wedge stitches again (before and after the previous increase stitch, gain 1 stitch from the cross thread) * = 5 total wedge stitches.

Now knit 2 rounds without increasing (now for every size).

Left glove

The increases are made only on the fourth needle. The first increase for the thumb wedge is made before and after the third last stitch.

For the left glove, the thumb wedge starts with the third last stitch of the 4th needle and on both sides the stitches are increased: knit off the first 3 needles, on the 4th needle in front of the third last stitch take the cross thread on the needle and knit off right, the next Knitt off the stitch on the right, then pick up the cross thread on the needle again, knit off to the right and gain another stitch, knit the remaining 2 stitches of the needle on the right = 3 wedge stitches. Accordingly, with the left glove continue to increase every 3rd round until the thumb is ready to knit.

Knitting the thumb bridge

In the next round, the thumb bridge is created. While doing so, knit the original stitches from the inside and back of the hand as normal, close the stitches of the thumb wedge, knit the web stitches in the area of ​​the thumb wedge according to the table below, and then knit the remaining original stitches of the cuff as normal.

Knitt 1 round right stitch.

In the next or the next rounds, the web stitches are reduced again:

1 rib stitch:

Knit 3 stitches on the right (pull 1 stitch off, knit the next 2 stitches on the right side and pull over the previously lifted stitch).

3 web stitches:

Round 1: Slightly remove the first two stitches (take off the first stitch, knit the second stitch on the right and pull it over the first stitch) and knit the third stitch with the next stitch.

5 web stitches:

Round 1: Slightly remove the first two stitches (take off the first stitch, knit the second stitch on the right and pull over the first stitch), knit two stitches on the right and knit the 5th stitch with the next stitch.

Round 2: Slightly remove the first two stitches (take off the first stitch, knit the second stitch on the right and pull over the first stitch) and knit the last stitch in the next stitch.

Now on the needles each again the originally posted stitch count.

Knit back of hand and inner surface

Now knit in even rounds until the glove covers your little finger or until the following height is reached:

• Size S: 14.5 cm
• Size M: 15.5 cm
• Size L: 16.5 cm
• Size XL: 17 cm

Knit glove top

On the glove top, decreases are made on the right and left as follows:

Needle 1 and needle 3: 1. Knit the stitching on the right, take off the 2 stitches, knit the third stitch on the right and pull on the previously lifted stitch.

Needle 2 and Needle 4: knit the second and third last stitches on the right and knit the last stitch on each needle back to the right.

Thin Wool: Work 5 times in every 2nd round, and then work as long as you want in each round until there are 8 more stitches remaining on the needles (2 stitches per needle).

Medium and Thick Wool: Work 3 times in every 2nd round, and then work as long as you want in each round until there are 8 more stitches remaining on the needles (2 stitches per needle).

Cut the work thread and pull it through these remaining 8 stitches.

Knit thumb

Take the following stitches around the thumb hole: 1 stitch from the cross thread in front of the bridge, the stitches of the thumb bridge (1 - 3 - 5, depending on size), 1 stitch from the cross thread to the bridge, the set stitches. Spread the stitches on 3 needles.

Knitting the disused stitches to the last one. The last stitch is knitted together with the stitch just taken in front of the web (lift off the stitch, knit the web and pull the stitch over the web). The picked stitch after the web is knitted together with the first stitch of the stitched stitches (knit the two stitches together).

Now the mesh size for the thumb is reached (stitched stitches + stitches). The thumb can be knit until it reaches the following height:

• Size S: 5 cm
• Size M: 5.5 cm
• Size L: 6 cm
• Size XL: 6 cm

The last two stitches of each needle are knitted together at the tip of the thumb and the last 4 - 6 stitches are pulled together with the thread cut off.

Knit finger gloves

The cuffs as well as the palm of the hand and the back of the hand up to the thumb are knitted with finger gloves as well as mittens. After the thumb ridge for the back of the hand and the inner surface knit in even rounds until the following height is reached from the end of the cuff:

• Size M: 10.5 cm
• Size L: 11.5 cm
• Size XL: 12 cm

Now it is up to the knitting of the individual fingers. As with the thumb, already existing meshes are used and additional web stitches are created between the individual fingers. The following table shows how from now on the stitches for the individual fingers are divided, or how many web stitches each have to be posted again.

In the case of the right glove, the stitches for the back of the hand are taken from the 1st and 2nd needle, respectively, and the stitches for the inner hand from the 1st and 2nd needle. At the same time the loops for the back of the hand are taken over by the 1st and 2nd needle and the loops for the inner hand by the 2nd and 3rd needle.

Knit fingers

Little finger / right glove: Knit in the round to the stitches that are reserved for the little finger. In the example (medium wool - size S), this is 5 stitches on needle 2. Put the corresponding stitches of the backhand on a separate needle. Hang the work thread. From here, the web stitches are taken up with new thread.

On 3 needles are now the stitches for the little finger. This is knitted up with the newly struck thread until the specified length is reached. Knitt the finger tip picks like the thumb (knit the last two stitches of each needle to the right until there are 4 - 6 stitches left, then tie them together).

Before proceeding with the other fingers, knit 3 rows of right stitches with the remaining stitches of the back of the hand and the palm of the hand, as well as the stitches. For this purpose, stitches are taken from the web of the little finger using the original working thread (number corresponds to the newly opened stitches of the web).

The ring finger consists of the indicated inner hand stitches, the web stitches to the little finger, the specified back of the hand and the new stitching stitches to the middle finger. Distribute these stitches evenly on 3 needles and knit the ring finger as high as indicated. The fingertip is knitted like the other fingers.

Knitt the middle finger and forefinger on the same principle: spread the required stitches over three needles and integrate and pick up the appropriate stitches.
