Costs and prices for face masks

Most of the products you need for face masks are extremely cheap. Such a cup of quark or a simple cucumber does not cost even one euro. Even honey is not a cost factor as you should not use the best honey for the mask first and secondly you only need a few tablespoons of it. Although there are many good products that are also suitable for a mask that are not cheap, but for our recipes here, we have deliberately set on inexpensive products. Especially since the expensive masks are not better. For example, healing clay sometimes costs relatively much. However, you only need a small amount for a mask. Similar to healing earth, however, yeast acts on the skin. That's why we use the yeast mask again.

Pharmacy - Ingredients

Unfortunately, some ingredients are only available in the pharmacy. But for that you get there especially pure products. St. John's wort oil or tea tree oil should be bought in a good quality from the pharmacy. The costs are still far from being as high as with a purchased finished product, which, however, may contain undesirable chemical constituents.

Garden fruits - fruits and vegetables

Many types of fruit are ideal facial care products. Also from the vegetable patch much is well suited for a face mask. The nutrients can penetrate directly through the thinner facial skin and achieve a positive effect on the care of the skin. Also fresh from the garden comes the onion mask, which we can not recommend in good conscience. In this mask, a grated onion is mixed with a little warm honey. This facial mask should even remain on the face for a full hour. It is really questionable who can stand an onion in the face for an hour. Besides, it does not matter if you have pimples or not, because thanks to the intense smell, nobody comes close anyway.

Tip: Always pay attention to which ingredients are included in a self-made mask. Get down to business with common sense, because on the internet there are also many nonsensical or even harmful recipes for face masks.

Basics

Before you apply a homemade facial mask or apply an exfoliant, you should thoroughly cleanse the skin. Especially with blackheads and pimples could otherwise penetrate the treatment of bacteria in the skin. In addition, the mask can hardly be effective if the pores are still filled with dirt or make-up. The positive agents can not penetrate then. Whether fruit, yeast or quark - these foods are naturally always bacteria, the skin should therefore be cleaned again after the mask. So-called single-use wash cloths are well suited for this cleaning, as they can then be easily disposed of.

Tip: With the pots and bowls as well as with the individual products you must pay attention to embarrassing cleanliness. Therefore, it is also better to use glass jars or purified jam jars. Wash fruits and vegetables thoroughly and remove trays that have been treated with sprays and pesticides. The glass pots should be well cleaned before use with hot water and detergent and then rinsed with plenty of clear cold water.

All self-made face masks have the advantage that they contain no preservatives. That's why you should mix the mask fresh for each application. Some masks can be kept in the fridge for about a day. But its effectiveness suffers. The individual foods must be fresh. Who thinks there is still a soft old peach left, that would be enough for a face mask, is wrong. In the peach, on the one hand, there are no nutrients that could help the skin and, on the other hand, putrefactive bacteria could have settled. You certainly do not want to have them on your face.

Applying masks

Facial masks should be applied thoroughly with a brush. The modern silicone baking brush are also well suited in the bathroom, since no germs can accumulate in it. In addition, these brushes can be cleaned very well. When applying the face mask, always leave out the area around the eyes and around the mouth. Especially with the masks with tea tree or St. John's wort oil, you must be careful that nothing of the mask gets into the eyes.

Tip: Most masks can work even better in the skin if you make a facial steam bath before. Through the steam, the pores open very strong and the positive agents can get deeper into the pores. If you like to take a hot bath, you can apply the masks during the bath and relax at the same time.

Honey mask - instructions and recipe

Even Cleopatra swore by the purifying and healing effects of honey for her facial care. So that you too can achieve this already proverbial beauty, here is a recipe for the honey mask, which ensures the swelling of acne and pimples. The skin is soothed by the mask with honey and deeply cleansed.

Mix three tablespoons of honey with about 30 ml of milk and a few drops of fresh lemon juice. In order for the honey to dissolve well, you should use lukewarm milk. If possible, do not add flavors or the like to the mask, as these can partially remove the active ingredients. The mass should be stirred until the honey has dissolved.

1 of 2

Tip: If you also want to use the mask as an exfoliant, you can once a month mix some wheat bran under your honey mask and apply it as well as usual. The only difference is the removal of the mask. The peeling mask should be rubbed in thoroughly for a while after the exposure time with circular fingers. Only then remove the mask with plenty of lukewarm water again.

The honey mask has to act for about 20 minutes. The effect is still supported if you drink a tea that is sweetened with honey and something to relax. The anti-inflammatory and antibiotic effect of honey on the skin is often visible immediately after use. The frequency of use should make you dependent on your complexion. Up to three applications a week are quite positive for the skin. If you notice that your skin has improved significantly, one application per week is enough.

Quark mask - refreshing

Stir well two tablespoons of cottage cheese with a little chamomile tea. The mass should be very cold, because it stimulates the blood circulation of the skin even more. You can cover the eye area with a few cucumber slices, no quark is applied there.

Tip: With the Quarkmaske you have numerous possibilities of modification. You can both add some chamomile flowers and stir in a little honey. In order to use the mask as a peeling at the same time, something not too coarse sea salt or wheat bran can be stirred in. The peeling should be applied at most once every 14 days.

The Quarkmaske should work for a quarter of an hour and washed thoroughly with lukewarm water. When the skin has regained acclimatization, you can then apply a cucumber mask made entirely of thin cucumber slices. The cucumbers then have to stay on the skin for only five minutes.

Yeast mask - remove pimple

Yeast has positive effects especially with annoying pimples. Of course only with fresh yeast. You should really buy the yeast fresh weekly.

A cube of yeast is dissolved in about 50 ml of lukewarm milk. You can also reduce the amount a bit. The mass must be spreadable in any case. So that the mask does not get too fatty, low-fat milk or whey is well suited for it.

Tip: You can mix a yeast mask with some dried chamomile flowers. Through the essential oils in the chamomile flowers, the skin is calmed and cleaned a little better. Particularly inflammatory areas of the skin, which may have been swollen by acne, benefit from the camomile and swell faster.

This mask should stay on the face for at least half an hour. You can also leave it on longer and wait for it to dry completely. However, only if you tend to have some oily skin. For dry skin, the mask should only have the recommended half hour to clear your skin.

Tip: A yeast mask should not be used more than once a week. The skin has to be able to rebuild its natural acid mantle itself, which takes a few days.

St. John's wort oil and egg

For this mask you need a fresh egg yolk. Mix this with about two tablespoons of St. John's wort oil. Use a whisk and make sure that the yolk is completely attached to the oil. The mass is ready when it has about the consistency of mayonnaise.

This mask has only a quarter of an hour to act and should be washed off with warm water. Use the disposable washcloth again, as the egg oil mass is very persistent. However, you should not use soap or the like. The facial mask with St. John's wort oil can be applied twice a week.

Tea tree oil and flaxseed

Tea tree oil has a particularly anti-inflammatory effect. It dries the skin but also strong. For very dry skin, you should therefore completely dispense with this face mask.

Two to three tablespoons of flaxseed are mixed with a little chamomile tea and a teaspoon of tea tree oil. The chamomile tea should still be warm, so that the ingredients can connect well. This mask can be applied to the skin with cotton pads. However, the disposable washcloths also work. To do this, apply the mask to the face with a spatula and place a disposable washcloth over it, which you have also soaked with chamomile tea.

Tip: For this mask you should look for a partner. With a friend, this mask can be applied better, as it crumbles very easily and thus easily causes some dirt in the house.

The tea tree oil mask should never be applied more than once a week. The exposure time must not be longer than 20 minutes. Pay attention to the skin feel and remove the mask in doubt earlier. Especially with the first application you should handle the tea tree oil carefully.
