Wool, which can be crocheted with needle size 4.5 in the following colors:

General: The owl is crocheted in solid mesh throughout. Rows each begin with a transitional air mesh. Rounds also start with a transitional mesh and end with a chain stitch. When changing colors, crochet the transitional air mesh with the new color.

Crochet owl's body

For the body with the apple green wool, first cast on a chain of 25 pieces of air. Crochet a spiral air stitch and crochet 25 stitches along the chain of stitches.

Crochet a total of 4 stitches at the end of the row for later rounding into the last stitch.

Crochet 25 stitches back along the bottom of the chain and crochet 4 stitches in the last stitch. Close this first round with a slit stitch (round 1 = total of 58 stitches). Cut the thread and pull it through the chain stitch.

Round 6: Change color (Kiwi); total 4 stitches, double the 1st, 39th, 40th and 78th stitches (= 82 stitches in total).

Round 7: Crochet without increasing (= 82 stitches in total).

Round 8: change color (beige); total 4 stitches, doubling the 1st, 41st, 42nd and 82st stitches (= total of 86 stitches).

Round 9: Crochet without increasing (= total of 86 stitches).

Round 10: change color (apple green); total 4 stitches, doubling the 1st, 43rd, 44th and 86th stitches (= 90 stitches in total).

Round 11: Crochet with no increases (= 90 stitches in total).

Round 12 to 34: Crochet in the strip sequence without increasing. On lap 34, make a mark left and right (before the 1st and after 45 stitches). From now on the body goes over into the head area. The marker separates the front and rear area.

Round 35: front area - 10 mesh turquoise, 4 mesh kiwi, 17 mesh turquoise, 4 mesh kiwi, crochet 10 mesh turquoise. Starting from the mark, start the back area - 16 stitches turquoise, 13 stitches kiwi, 16 stitches turquoise crochet.

Tip: When changing colors within a row, the last stitch already cut with the new color! Run the unused paint on the back.

Round 58: Chop the following stitches together: 1st + 2nd, 3rd + 4th, 26th + 27th, 28th + 29th, 30th + 31st, 32nd + 34th, 55th + 56th., 57th + 58th stitch - 50 stitches remain.

Crochet the owl's eyes

The eyes are crocheted in rounds:

Round 1 in rust red: Cast on 8 stitches in a thread ring and close with a slit stitch.

Round 2: crochet without doubling = 8 stitches
Round 3: the 2nd and 6th stitches are doubled = 10 sts
Round 4: the 3rd and 7th stitch are doubled = 12 sts
Round 5: the 3rd and 9th stitch are doubled = 14 sts
Round 6 - Round 9: crochet without doubling = 14 stitches
Crochet round 7: 3 Knittmaschen, 8 fixed loops, 3 Knittmaschen (the 3rd Kettsmasche forms already the round conclusion). The back edge is slightly lower and the nose is easier to sew on.

Completion of the owl

Fill up the owl's body. For this purpose, filling cotton can be used - from the owl is then a cuddly pillow. If the owl is to stand afterwards, cherry pits are suitable as filling material.

Close the top seam.
