Anyone who likes to decorate at Christmas, of course, always has some angels in the repertoire. If you also count crocheting as your passion, you can combine both wonderfully together.

Just crochet your own angel or just a whole angel's family and decorate your home with it. And since angels and guardian angels actually accompany us throughout the year, the most beautiful crochet specimens may certainly remain in permanent use. Here we crochet a guardian angel in a festive dress.

Instructions - crochet angels

material

  • In this tutorial, work with a bit more stable crochet yarn and a crochet hook No. 2.5. (Lang Yarns, Quattro, combed cotton, mercerized, 50 g = approx. 120 m) - 1 ball
  • If you prefer filigree work, you can always switch to a delicate filet crochet yarn and thinner crochet hooks.
  • You also need some cotton wool, filling cotton or similar to fill in the angel's head.

Basics

These crochet techniques are required for the Crocheted Guardian Angel:

  • stitches
  • thread ring
  • strong stitches
  • slip stitch
  • half and whole chopsticks

Head and body

Start the crochet work best with a thread ring.

Round 1: Crochet 8 strong stitches in the thread ring and seal the round with a slit stitch.

Round 2: Double the number of stitches by crocheting 2 stitches in each stitch of the preliminary round. Crochet half chopsticks = 16 half sticks in this round

Attention: Beginning of round: 2 transitional air stitches, round end: 1 slit stitch; Transition air meshes and warp stitches are not taken into account in the calculation of the mesh count

Round 3: Double the number of stitches in this round by crocheting 2 half-sticks in each stitch of the preliminary round = 32 half-sticks.

Round 4 - Round 7: Crochet these rounds with no increments, each with 32 half sticks.

Round 8: In this round, the mesh size is reduced again. Take 16 stitches by crocheting 2 half sticks together (cut off together) = 16 half sticks.

Cut off 2 half-sticks together: For the first half-stick, make only the first step (pick up the thread and pull through) and leave the 3 loops on the crochet hook. Now crochet the second half of the stick (pick up the thread again and pull it through) and, in a final step, pull the thread through all 5 loops on the crochet hook.

Before the head opening becomes too small, now is the best time to stuff it with stuffing.

Round 9: In this round, continue to decrease and reduce the number of stitches as in round 8 again (cut off 2 sticks together) = 8 half sticks

Round 10 - Round 12: Crochet 8 half sticks in each of these 3 rounds.

For body and dress is further crocheted in chopsticks. Therefore, the following applies: Beginning of the round: 3 transitional air stitches, round end: 1 warp stitch

Round 13: The number of stitches is doubled again: Crochet 2 sticks in each stitch of the preliminary round (= 16 sticks).

Round 14: The number of stitches is also doubled: Crochet 2 sticks (= 32 sticks) in each stitch of the preliminary round.

Round 15 - 18: Crochet 32 sticks in these 4 rounds

Round 19: In this series begins the pattern for the dress. Out of 32 single sticks 12 patterns have to be created. This round is therefore crocheted after a slightly irregular count:

Sample set: chopsticks, air mesh, chopsticks in a puncture site (this results in a "V" open at the top) - 2 air meshes as a bridge
