What you need for a cotton egg warmer:

Material and preparation

The material selection

You need a piece of solid cotton in any color for the egg warmer in the shape of a chicken. We chose the cotton in light gray with white dots. The beak, the chicken comb and the tail are from the red hard paper.

Note: Use felt or cotton fabric for the beak, chicken comb and tail. Then you can easily put your egg warmer in the washing machine.

The amount of material

We need four small pieces of the cotton fabric in the size of about 8 x 13 cm .

The pattern

After we have printed out our pattern, we put it on the cotton fabric and cut the chicken twice.

Note: Do not forget to turn the pattern so that you can place the front and back sides one on top of the other on the right.

When we are done, we now cut the inner side of the egg warmer. But we do not need a pattern for this. It is a rectangle of 7 x 6 cm .

Finally we cut the beak, the chicken comb and the tail from the paper or the felt . The beak is a triangle (2 x 2 x 2 cm). With the chicken comb and the tail, you can simply let your imagination run wild. Finally we decided against a red tail.

Sew egg warmers out of the cotton fabric

Before stitching the front and back together with a simple straight stitch, we put the chicken comb and beak upside down between the two fabrics.

Only the bottom edge is not sewn together. When we are done, we sew 3 sides of the rectangle together.

We turn the two pieces sewn together on the left and sew the lower edges together, so that the side seams meet.

Finally, we leave a turning opening, through which we turn all the work to the right.

Finally we close the turning hole with the simple straight stitch and put the rectangle in our chicken.

Quick guide

01. Cut the chicken according to the pattern.
02. Cut the chicken comb and beak.
03. Place the cotton fabric right side to the right.
04. Place the chicken comb and beak between both fabrics on the head.
05. Sew together the two fabrics.
06. Sew the rectangle together at three edges.
