The crochet blanket is one of the classics in the world of crochet. As a beginner you can practice the various types of knitwear just fine. It does not have to be the delicate white doily like grandma's. There are now many modern patterns for a crochet blanket. In addition, today the colors for a blanket may be mixed colorfully.

In this manual for a crochet blanket, the wool is relatively thick, so that the procedure is not too strenuous even for beginners. In addition, the thick yarn has the advantage that the doily is quite large even with a manageable number of rounds. A crocheted blanket is called "rounds" because you start with a ring in the middle and then add a new pattern round by round until the doily is done. That may be a bit strange for a beginner. But you will soon realize that it is not difficult to crochet a patterned blanket this way.

• Crochet yarn (100% mercerized cotton, 50 g on 125 m run length) in red & white

The material is, of course, just a suggestion for crocheting a blanket. Especially for beginners, it is convenient to orient themselves in the selection of the material to the guidance of experienced crooks. If you have already gained some experience with different yarns and needle sizes, you can also decide for yourself which wool in which thickness you like best when crocheting a doily.

Tip: If you crochet a blanket with a thicker yarn, it will be larger overall than a crochet blanket with the same pattern but a thin yarn.

Instructions: Crochet doilies

1 round

• For the beginning of the blanket, crochet 12 pieces of air.
• Join the chain with a chain stitch in the first stitch to a ring.

2nd round

• 4 air meshes
• Crochet in the same stitch from the 4 pieces of air spring from a stick.
• Crochet 2 sticks in each following air stitch of the preliminary round. At the end of the round you should have 24 sticks.
• Close the round with a slit stitch in the 3rd Air Mesh from the beginning of the round.

Note: 3 air stitches at the beginning of a round replace the first one.

3rd round

• 4 air meshes
• Chopsticks in the next stitch
• an air mesh
• Chopsticks in the next stitch
• Continue this way and finish the round after 24 sticks and 24 stitches with a slit stitch in the 3rd airlock from the beginning of the round.

4th round

• 5 air meshes
• a stick in the next stick of the preliminary round
• 2 air meshes
• So continue the round by crocheting a chopstick in the next round of the preliminary round and connecting 2 meshes.
• Finish the round with a chain stitch in the 3rd Air Mesh from the beginning of the round.

5th round

• 3 air meshes
• Chopsticks in the same stitch
• 2 air meshes
• 2 sticks in the next stick of the preliminary round
• Continue by switching from 2 sticks to a stitch and 2 stitches.
• At the end of the round you should have 48 sticks. Finish the round as usual.

6th round

• 3 air meshes
• Chopsticks in the next stick of the preliminary round
• 2 air meshes
• Continue to crochet a chopstick into each chopstick of the preliminary round. After every 2 sticks 2 air stitches follow.
• Close the 6th round of the crochet blanket as usual.

7th round

• 3 air meshes
• 2 sticks in the next stick of the preliminary round
• 2 air meshes
• a stick in the next stick of the preliminary round
• 2 sticks in the next stick of the preliminary round
• 2 air meshes
• Continue this pattern and finish the round with a slit stitch.

8th round

• 3 air meshes
• Crochet a chopstick into the next stitch. However, only pull the thread once through the first 2 stitches on the needle. Keep the other two stitches on the needle.
• Crochet a chopstick into the next stitch. In turn, pull the thread through only the first two stitches on the needle.
• Now you should have 3 stitches on the needle. Crochet all three together by pulling the thread through all three stitches.
• 4 air meshes
• Crochet the same way as 3 sticks into the next 3 sticks of the preliminary round.
• Now there should be 4 stitches left on the needle. Crochet these together.
• Continue with the change of 4 air stitches and 3 sticks, which are crocheted together.
• Close the round with a warp stitch in the joint stitch of the first 3 sticks.

9th round

• 1 air mesh
• 1 sturdy stitch in each air stitch of the previous row
• 1 strong stitch in the joint stitch of the 3 sticks of the previous row
• In principle, crochet 1 sturdy stitch into each stitch of the preliminary round for the doily this round.
• Close the round with a slit stitch in the first round of the round.

Following this guide, you have now completed half of the rounds! Your blanket has probably grown considerably.

10th round

• 8 air meshes
• a double stick in the same stitch (= stitch above 3 crocheted sticks of the penultimate round)
• put a double stick in the stitch on the next 3 combined sticks of the penultimate round
• 4 air meshes
• a double stick in the same stitch as the double stick before
• put a double stick in the stitch on the next 3 combined sticks of the penultimate round

• This pattern continues. In the end, this row of blankets looks like many small triangles with their tips pointing inwards and outwards.
• Close this round with a chain stitch in the 4th Air Mesh from the beginning of the round.

Note: 4 air stitches at the beginning of a round replace the first double stick.

11th round

• 4 air meshes
• a double stick into the next tip of the triangle from the preliminary round
• 5 air meshes
• a double stick in the same tip
• a double stick in the next tip
• In this round again triangles are formed, which show exactly opposite to the triangles of the preliminary round.
• Close the round with a chain stitch in the 4th air mesh from the beginning of the round.

12th round

• 4 air meshes
• 1 strong stitch in the following stitch (= double stick of the preliminary round)
• 5 strong stitches in the 5 air stitches of the preliminary round
• 1 fixed stitch in the double stick of the preliminary round
• 3 air meshes
• 1 strong stitch in the next double stick of the preliminary round
• 5 strong stitches in the following stitches
• Basically, crochet a tight loop in each stitch of the preliminary round. At the top of the triangles are tiny arcs of 3 small meshes.
• Close the round with a slit stitch in the 1st bubble from the beginning of the round.

13th round

• a Kettmasche in the second air mesh of the preliminary round
• a chain stitch in the third round of the preliminary round (middle of the 3-sheet)
• 17 air meshes
• a tight stitch in the 6th mesh of the newly crocheted chain
• 5 air meshes
• a tight stitch in the middle of the next 3-sheet
• 12 air meshes
• a tight stitch in the middle of the next 3-sheet
• 16 air meshes
• a tight loop in 5th chain of the chain
• 5 air meshes
• Repeat the change of 16 and 12 meshes with the appropriate fixed stitches until the end of the round. In total, this results in 12 loops with 12 intermediate webs.
• Close the round with a slit stitch in the 2nd slit stitch from the beginning of the round.

14th round

• 5 strong stitches in the 5 air stitches of the preliminary round
• In the loop of the preliminary round Crochet 21 sticks. For this you do not stab into the air mesh, but lead the crochet hook through the large opening of the loop.
• 5 strong stitches in the 5 following air stitches of the preliminary round
• 12 strong stitches in the 12 following stitches of the web
• Then it goes back to the first step of the instructions for Round 14.
• Close this round of crocheted blanket with a slit stitch in the first round stitch.

15th round

• 5 times 1 warp stitch per fixed stitch of the preliminary round
• 1 sliver in each of the first 3 sticks of the bow

• Nothing is crocheted in the last 3 sticks of the bow.

• one stick into the 4th stick of the next bow
• Now the instructions start again. In the bow there are chopsticks and air mesh alternately. Then 3 air stitches, 2 fixed stitches and another 3 stitches to the next bow.
• Close the round with a chain stitch in the 4th stick of the first bow.

16th round

• Color change for the doily: Continue crocheting with the white wool!
• 4 air meshes
• a stick in the following air mesh of the preliminary round
• an air mesh
• To crochet a total of 14 sticks each followed by an air mesh in the bow.
• After the last chopsticks no air mesh follows, but it continues directly with the first chopsticks in the first air mesh of the following bow.
• At the end of the round, close with a chain stitch in the 3rd Air Mesh from the beginning of the round.

17th round

They work this round analogous to the instructions in round 16. The only difference is that there are now only 13 sticks per bow.

At the end of the 18th round, pull the thread through the warp stitch and then sew it to the back of the crochet blanket. Beginners should inform themselves in advance how to sew invisible.
