This guide is about easy to crochet baby shoes. First, the sole is worked, it follows a shell. So that the shoes do not slip so easily from the little feet, another belt comes into play. A button serves as a clasp and at the same time upbeat accessory.
The instructions contain the information for three different shoe sizes:
- Size 1: about 0 - 3 months
- Size 2: about 3 - 6 months
- Size 3: about 6 - 9 months
If there is only one indication in the manual, this applies to all three sizes. Otherwise, size1 / size2 / size3 are separated by a slash. For the smallest shoe size so always use the first indication of the number series, size 2 is between the slashes and the required mesh size for size 3 is the last number to read.
Tip: Read the instructions once before picking up the crochet hook and first make a color-coded selection of the sizes you need to adhere to. Then crocheting will be easier afterwards, without you slipping in the numbers.

Comfortably soft yet durable - these requirements should be met by wool when baby shoes are crocheted. Excellent are blended yarns that are
a) process well,
b) as a finished shoe nestle comfortably and softly on baby's feet,
c) stay in shape even with small kicking-offs and
d) if necessary, once in the washing machine allowed.
The pattern pair was crocheted from the following mixture: 35% cotton, 35% acrylic, 30% viscose. Due to the cotton , this variant is very popular for summer and indoor shoes.
Merino qualities are recommended for the colder season. Here, too, there is now a large selection of yarns that do not scratch and are machine washable.
Small crochet
Chain of air meshes: As you can see from the name, air mesh is hung on air mesh. First, make an initial mesh. On the crochet hook is thereby a loop, in which now one after the other new loop is pulled.

Attach an air chain
Size 1 = 11 air meshes /
Size 2 = 13 air meshes /
Size 3 = 15 air meshes
The sole forms around the resulting chain of mesh. To do this, work a spiral air stitch and crochet along the chain from right to left first a row of 10/12/14 fixed stitches. Crochet 2 sts at the tip of each shoe (2 x each in the same stitch), crochet 11/13/15 sts, crochet 2 sts at the back of the heel in each of the 2 following stitches, and knit at the back of the heel Finish round again with a chain stitch.

The top continues to work in rounds: The first round consists of 44/48/52 chopsticks. Only pierce in the front mesh member of the preliminary round. Thus, the rods fold up and there is a small edge to the sole.
Beginning of the round: 3 rounds of air as a round crossing (puncture point for the first stick is once again the same hole as for the rounds of air). After the 44th / 48th / 52nd Chopsticks close the round with a chain stitch.
2nd round: Crochet 1 round of air as a round transition, crochet 44/48/52 stitches, close the round with a slit stitch.
3rd round: like the 2nd round.
4th round: Crochet 1 round of air as a round crossing, work 12/14/16 stitches, cut off 2 stitches together.
Tip: Knit 2 stitches together: stitch through the stitch of the preliminary round, get the thread (now there are 2 loops on the needle), pierce the next stitch of the preliminary round and get the thread (now there are 3 loops on the needle) again get a thread and pull it through all 3 loops. From 2 fixed stitches of the preliminary round becomes 1 fixed stitch (decrease).
Crochet 3 stitches - here is the front middle of the shoe. If you have difficulty with stitch counting, you can use a different colored thread to help mark the toe. - Crochet 3 more sts, knit 2 stitches together, crochet 22/24/26 stitches and finish with a slit stitch.
5th round: Crochet 1 round of air, crochet 12/14/16 stitches, knit 2 stitches together 4 crochet 4 stitches, cut off 2 stitches together, crochet 22/24/26 stitches and finish with a slit stitch.
6th round: Crochet 1 piece of air, crochet 12/14/16 sts, knit 2 stitches together, crochet 2 sts, knit 2 stitches together, crochet 22/24/26 stitches and finish with a slit stitch.
7th round: Crochet 1 piece of air, crochet 12/14/16 sts, knit 2 x 2 stitches together, crochet 22/24/26 stitches and finish with a slit stitch.
Round 8: Crochet 1 piece of air, crochet 12/14/16 stitches, crochet 2 stitches together, crochet 22/24/26 stitches and finish with a slit stitch. Cut the thread and pull it through.
Crochet the second shoe as well. The photo shows how the stitches converge at the toe.

For the shoe strap, cut into the 5th stitch counted from the top and fasten the thread with a chain stitch. Then crochet a tight stitch in the same stitch and along the edge towards the heel another five stitches.
Turn the shoe and crochet 8 rows back and forth for the Riehen, each with 1 twisted air stitch and 6 fixed stitches.
Tip: Begin each row with fixed stitches with a reversing air stitch and at the end make sure that you work correctly to the last stitch.
In the 9th row the buttonhole is worked: Crochet 1 twisted air piece and 2 fixed stitches, crochet 2 air stitches and thus pass 2 stitches of the previous row, crochet 2 stitches (the arrow indicates the puncture point). Turn it over again, crochet a row with 6 fixed loops (the 3rd and 4th stitches work around the two pre-row stitches). Last row: 6 stitches each in the stitches of the previous row.
ATTENTION: work the second belt in the opposite direction, ie on the other side of the shoe in the 11th stitch, count from the top, pin in, take a firm stitch and crochet a total of 6 stitches along the edge towards the top.

In order for these basic instructions to create completely different looking shoes or ballerinas, only a few small changes are needed. If only the sole gets a different color, immediately the shoe character is more exposed. With a narrower straps, the crocheted shoes look more summery. For the little Prima-Ballerina the shoe strap is instead of the left and right edge just attached to the back of the heel and closed there.
