Babies do not need any shoes for gymnastics, but they look sporty and still look good: crocheted baby chucks. These are as soft as crocheted socks, but look like real sneakers. In this tutorial, we will show you step by step how to crochet such baby chucks yourself.

Granted, it takes a few steps before the kids can enjoy their crocheted baby chucks. But with the following detailed step-by-step explanation you will surely get to the desired destination.

material

The baby chucks in the instructions were crocheted of cotton:

  • Lang Yarns, Quattro (100% cotton combed and mercerized, 50 g = approx. 120 m) - each 1 1 ball in any color, white and black
  • Crochet hooks: No. 3, 3.5 and 4
  • Shoe size = length about 10 cm

Crocheted with thicker wool, the shoes are automatically one size larger.

sole

The sole is crocheted with double bevel (white) and a crochet hook in size 4. Start with a chain of 13 air meshes.

Round 1: Now crochet around the chain of stitches: 6 Knittmaschen - 5 fixed stitches - 3 fixed stitches in the initial air stitch. Then crochet at the bottom back 5 strong stitches - 6 warp stitches. The round is then closed with a chain stitch. The puncture site for the first warp stitch is marked with the right arrow. The left arrow shows the front center, where 3 solid stitches are crocheted.

Round 2: Now crochet a transitional air stitch and circle the sole: 2 stitches into a stitch - 10 stitches - 2 stitches each into the next 3 stitches (toe) - 10 stitches - 2 stitches into a stitch. Finish the round again with a slit stitch.

Crochet 3: 1 transitional air stitch and circle the sole: 2 sts in the first two stitches - 8 sts - 2 half sts - 2 sts in the next 2 sts - 2 sts (toe) - 2 half sts in each the next 2 sts - 2 half staves - 8 sts - 2 sts in a stitch. Finish the round with a chain stitch.

Crochet 4: 1 transitional air stitch and circle the sole: 2 stitches in the first 3 stitches - 12 stitches - 2 stitches in the next 3 stitches - 2 stitches - 2 stitches in the next 3 stitches - 12 stitches 2 strong stitches in the first 3 stitches. Finish the round with a chain stitch. (= 51 meshes)

From round 5, crochet with a single thread and needle 3.5.

Crochet 5: 1 Transition Air Mesh - Crochet 1 round of single crochet stitching, inserting only in the back loop. Evenly split 7 stitches in this round (= 58 stitches). Finish the round with a chain stitch.

Crochet 6: 1 transition air stitch - Crochet 1 round of sturdy stitches - Finish the round with a slit stitch.

Crochet Round 7: 1 Transition Air Mesh - Crochet 1 round of single crochet stitch, using only the back loop. Finish the round with a chain stitch. Cut and sew the work thread.

Black stripe along the sole:

Use the black wool for this decorative round. Crochet a round of chain stitches. As a puncture, the outer mesh members of Round 6 are on the inner mesh members crocheted round 7, the outer mesh members are easily accessible. To do this, insert the crochet hook through the loop, pick up the thread and pull it through the loop and then through the loop on the needle. If the crochet hook with 3.5 mm is too bulky for this, can be avoided on a smaller needle with only 3 mm.

toe

Mark the middle stitch on the toe with a thread. From here count 7 stitches to the right, pierce the needle and pull the white thread through.

Hold the crochet shoe sole with the tip pointing forward and crochet along the front edge as follows: Crochet 2 pieces of air as a replacement for 1 piece of chopsticks, start 1 stick and cut off the 2 pieces and the stick together - 2 Crochet the chopsticks and chop them together - crochet 2 sticks again and chop them off together - Crochet 3 sticks and chop them off - Crochet 3 sticks to the left of the shoe center and chop them together. (From 15 puncture sites, 7 mesh heads are created.)

Turn the work, crochet 2 air stitches as a substitute for 1 started stick, crochet 6 sticks and finally cut off all 7 sticks together. Cut off the white thread and sew immediately stable.

Crochet the chopsticks: Start the chopsticks as usual by taking a loop from the working thread and then taking a second loop through the puncture site. Now pull the thread through two loops and do not finish the stick for the time being. There are two loops on the crochet hook.

Chop the chopsticks together: After the first crocheted chopsticks you can crochet any other chopsticks until at the end there are 4 (with two sticks), 6 (with 3 chopsticks) or several loops on the crochet hook. By pulling the thread and at the same time pulling it through all the loops, the whole sticks are mashed together and one gets only one head from several sticks.

flap

Take the color wool for the tab. The shoe sole is turned back so that the point is now facing you. Crochet the thread on the right, crochet 1 mesh of air as a substitute for the first single crochet and crochet 9 solid loops along the white edge.

Row 1 of the tab (back row): Crochet 1 air stitch as a substitute for the first fixed stitch and crochet 9 more sts.

Crochet row 2: 1 crochet as a substitute for the first crochet, crochet 2 sts at the first puncture site and 8 more sts. (= 10 fixed stitches in total)

Crochet row 3 - 5: 1 crochet as a substitute for the first crochet and then crochet 10 crochet stitches.

Crochet row 6: 1 crochet as a substitute for the first set of stitches, crochet 2 sts at the first stitching point and 9 additional stitches. (= 11 fixed stitches in total)

Crochet row 7: 1 crochet as a substitute for the first crochet, crochet 2 sts in the first puncture and 10 crochet sts. (= 12 fixed stitches in total)

Crochet row 8: 1 crochet as a substitute for the first set and work another 12 stitches.

Row 9: Do not crochet here but start directly with 1 sturdy stitch. Crochet another 1 crochet - Crochet 2 half sticks - Crochet 3 sticks - Crochet 2 half sticks - Crochet 2 crochet stitches - Crochet 1 slit stitch as row and flap closure.

shaft

The shaft is crocheted with the colored wool.

Row 1: Insert the crochet hook on the left edge of the tab and get a loop. It follows a series of solid stitches along the sole edge. In doing so, prick around the entire fixed stitch of the previous row. This creates a beautiful white trim edge containing the shoe sole (43 stitches). Mark the back center with a piece of thread.

Row 2 - 4: Crochet these three rows of fixed stitches, taking 3 stitches each: Crochet a piece of airmuff at the beginning of the row, skip a stitch before crocheting the first set of stitches; Cut off the two middle (at the thread marking) and the last two stitches together (= 34 stitches at the end of row 4).

Row 5 - 9: Continue to crochet crochet, but only crochet at the beginning and end of the declines (= 24 stitches at the end of row 9).

Drafting: Crochet an air chain (approx. 60 cm long) out of the white wool as a shoelace and then pull the chain through the right and left side of the shaft as in the case of real chucks.
