One of your favorite colleagues is changing jobs or clubs or is about to retire and you want to say goodbye to him ">

In itself it is very easy to make farewell cards. What you basically need is a thicker piece of paper that you fold in half - that's how fast your typical card size is. The real "difficulty", however, is to "design" this card. You have several options.

On the one hand, we provide you with general tips for making farewell cards for your work and club colleagues. In addition, our contribution includes two concrete design ideas for the front of the card. In the third part of the article, you can be inspired by various spells to find the right words for the inner area of the cards. Here we go!

Make farewell cards for colleagues

Glue or paint farewell cards

In principle, you can either stick or paint the farewell cards. Also use the print templates prepared by us for you. So you have your first motives immediately at hand!

Tip: By the way, you can also use our print templates to pause. Grab a separate piece of paper and place one of our artwork under it, then hold it against a window. The contours drawn in pencil now serve as a template for the subsequent drawing with colored pencils and fiber pens.

Note: Printing is also an option, but with this method, the DIY share is very low, so we do not go into detail, but concentrate on pasting and painting.

Paste farewell cards

Of course it is entirely up to you how you label the front of your farewell card. Our ideas are just to encourage you.

Photo of the colleague present ">

Do you happen to have a good picture at home, on your camera or on your laptop, on which the work or club colleague to be adopted and you together are depicted? Leave it - if necessary - develop and glue it to the front of the card.

Maybe you have several photos of your colleague at work. From these, you can use a photo program on the computer to put together a small collage, which you can print or develop as a photo and fix it on the map. The individual pictures are relatively small - we therefore recommend that you make a slightly larger map for this idea. Fold an A4 or even A3 sheet to have more space available. This is how the pictures of the collage look better.

Photo from magazines or magazines

If you find a funny or beautiful picture in a newspaper or magazine that reminds you of your work or club colleague, you should cut it out right away. It can just as well be used as a front motive .

  • Alternatively, logically there is also the option to cut out several motifs that match the colleague and to stick them on the front of the farewell card as a colorful collage

Paint farewell cards

If you like to paint (and good), we advise you to paint the farewell card yourself. Which colors / aids you use and what exactly you create is up to your imagination. Just make sure that your motive really has something to do with the colleague and the activity - or alternatively with the (hopefully beautiful) life that awaits the card receiver now.

Here are some ideas, which fits in any case well - so you can not go wrong, if you do not know the colleague, but still want to give him a farewell card.

  • Ship with the inscription "Gute Reise!"
  • Hot air balloon with the inscription "Good luck to you!"
  • Airplane with the inscription "Happy for your further journey!"
  • Convertible with the inscription "You are ready for new adventures!"

In short: Fascinating vehicles with an optimistic slogan are always wonderful solutions. Even a compass in heart shape with a saying like "Follow your heart!" Is a wonderful idea - but only for colleagues who really mean something to you, so that you more than the work or the club.

Tip: You can also trim the outer edge (s) of the farewell card with a pair of pattern scissors and add extra trim to the card.

Colors or painting elements that are optimally suited:

  • colored pencils
  • markers
  • Acrylics
  • finger paint
  • pencil
  • Craft glue or hot glue

Making goodbye cards | 2 instructions

We will introduce you to two concrete ways to make farewell cards for your work or club colleagues. We have decided on simple variants that you can implement even if you do not have a strong artistic streak.

Instructions 1 | Farewell card "New ways"

You need this:

  • A4 or A5 sheet (not too thin)
  • pencil
  • colored pencils
  • Fineliners
  • Craft glue or hot glue

How to proceed:

Step 1: Pick up the sheet of paper and fold it once in the middle.

Important: Work carefully to get a straight line.

Step 2: Grab the pencil and use it to draw a signpost on the front of the card - preferably in the middle.

Step 3: Complete the pile with several signs in arrow form.

Tip: Let the arrows point in different directions. Be sure to draw the signs wide and high enough for words to fit in. Finally, you would like to give the farewell party a taste of its potential "new ways".

Also use our free print templates in this step.

Step 4: Paint the marked pile and the signs with colored pencils. For a natural picture different shades of brown (woody) are ideal. You can also choose colorful colors instead. Think about what suits your colleague better.

Step 5: Then label the signs with the "paths" that you want to show the recipient of the map.

Possible are:

  • love
  • adventure
  • family
  • Lebensträume
  • luck
  • success

Tip: It is best to use a black fineliner (or a liner in another color that matches the tone of the sign).

Step 6: Now paint the background of the signpost - with blue and white, for example - to create a heavenly ambience.

Tip: Whether you also color the back and the insides of the farewell card is in your hands.

Step 7: Write your favorite spell or thought into the card. Finished!

Instructions 2 | Farewell card "compass heart"

You need this:

  • A4 or A5 sheet (not too thin)
  • Picture of a compass (our free Talu-craft templates)
  • red fineliner
  • colored pencils
  • Craft glue or hot glue

How to proceed:

Step 1: Fold the paper sheet in the middle.
Step 2: Trim the image of the compass appropriately.

Step 3: Stick the compass motif with normal craft glue or alternatively also hot glue in the upper area of the front of the card. Decorate the card at will, for example, with a small, curved heart from a piece of pipe cleaner.

Attention: Leave enough room at the top, left and right to "frame" the compass with a heart.

Step 4: Alternatively, draw a heart around the compass with a red fineliner.

Tip: If you are unsure of getting the heart right, first draw it in pencil (can be erased if dissatisfied ...) and then retract it with the Fineliner.

Step 5: Optionally paint the heart elements with a red colored pencil.

Step 6: Paint the background of the front, as you like, in your favorite pencil color.

Tip: Again, you decide whether you want to complement the back and the insides of the map.

Step 7: Write the words "Follow your heart!" Under the compass heart - preferably with the red fineliner.

Step 8: Give the card face or inner part of the farewell card the spell you have chosen. Finished!
